After the delights of the Corporation Brewery Tap but a few minutes walk away this became a beacon of humanity whereby it is really just a standard street corner local doing a decent ale (Barnsley Bitter). Handy for the station.

Called in yesterday evening, passing the currently closed Leopard, expecting to find the usual selection of well-kept ales. Only one ale available (York Guzzler had just gone off) which was brewed by the new Doncaster Brewery and was OK-ish though not really to my taste. Despite showing my CAMRA card the barman did not deduct the advertised discount for CAMRA members. I hope this is just a blip, as I have previously very much enjoyed the warm welcome and selection of ales in this establishment.

Popped in here while I was working in the area. Fantastic place! Met by friendly landlady, and a few friendly locals. Great selection of beers on. (Just a week too early for their beer festival unfortunately). Asked for some sandwiches, but they had stopped doing food at lunchtimes. However, the landlady sent out for some bread, raided her fridge, and did me a massive round of ham sandwiches! What a great place. The one down side (for me) is that this pub is 250 miles away from where I live.

Came in after The Leopard and on my way to the Keepmoat for a match.
4 different ales on tap of which as recommended by the knowledgable and very helpful barmen I had 2 pints of Guzzler from the York brewery. MY first time supping a brew from this brewery and it was excellent.
I enquired how far the football ground was away and after being told I could walk it in 20 mins the barman kindly offered to order me a cab when I wanted.
The pub was empty save for a local and then as I was getting ready for my cab another 3 or 4 locals arrived.
Cracking little pub that I do hope survives the crunch as it's doing all the right things.
Keep up the good work.

Visited this pub yesterday and sampled a lovely pint of York Brew Guzzler... it was lovely and it was in a proper pint glass !! A very trad pub split into 2 rooms, with a central bar. There were 3 other local ales on sale at the time... a friendly place in "tasty" area of Doncaster... to get to this pub you have pass The Railway and The Leopard, both of which have cask ales... This has a large(ish) beer/smoking area at the back and an outside bar for the beer festivals that take place... bumped into a few Spurs fans who were up to watch Scunthorpe play.... there were some friendly locals.... well worth a visit if your traveling by train....its 5 mins walk away...

Busy after the Rovers football match and deservedly so. Nice range of mostly local ales, and a friendly ambience. I recognised the landlord from an earlier visit; he informed me that he has run this pub for the last 4 years, but has now given up the Railway round the corner. Recent visits to the Leopard have disappointed after many years of former satisfaction, so I'll be walking a little further from the station more regularly in future.

Back again (football was concelled due to a flurry of snow!!). Enjoy Geeve's Brewery ales from Barnsley - a new brewery to me. Pleasant barmaid and a good little boozer well worth a visit and handy for the trains.

Nice enough pub, tucked away in a side street but near to both the town centre and train station. It was quiet on our visit, but the four Christmas Ales certainly gave us a decent choice. I felt the pub however was a little bit 'run down' The place just needs a lick of paint, whilst turning the heating up a little would have helped. I believe this has recently been voted Doncaster Camra pub of the year for 2011, perhaps this is a fair reflection, but to gain that accolade, I expected something better.

Yet another great little pub to visit when going the football in the Doncaster area. Decent ale and a warm welcome...

Great little back street boozer only 10 minutes away from the transport interchange and the shops. Visited on a saturday after football when the pub was busy (but not uncomfortable so) with a largely local clientele watching the Rugby. Serving a range of Great Newsome beers, the Pricky Back was excellent. The landlord was happy to chat and clearly a lover of the pub and beer. I understand that the pub was nearly closed recently, that would have been a disaster. If you're in Donny well worth checking out - I will be back one day.

Visited this little street corner pub before Reading's 3-0 win at Donny. Excellent, friendly pub with cracking beer (Great Heck Yorkshire Navigator/Heck's Angel and Super Dave plus York Terrier). Good prices and brilliant chip butties. All a good little boozer should be. Turns out that the landlord used to run The Hook and Tackle in Reading! The Corner Pin is handy for the station and town centre and we will be back again soon. p.s. The landlord now also runs the nearby Railway pub which had 3 real ales on when we visited.

Very friendly locals pub, not too far a walk from the station. Four real ales were on and you could tell that the landlord was passionate about his beers. I remember one was Saltaire Triple Choc, whilst another was from Great Heck. The latter was replaced by another Great Heck beer during my visit. Got chatting to a friendly, if not slightly steaming (I could talk) Doncaster Rovers fan at the bar. He was bemoaning the referee's performance in that day's game! A pub I would certainly try again whenever I'm next in Doncaster.

A lovely little pub - just round the corner from the station and bus station. Serves lovely beer, with a great variety on its 3 pumps. A nice place to go for a few and putting the world to rights. SMall patio outside too for those warmer evenings or smokers!..

A taditional locals corner pub with patterned windows and a fairly straight forward, functional but cosy enough interior. The dcor has a dated 70s feel to it but doesnt lack anything for it (the piped Elton Johns Greatest Hits probably aided my perception). To the left of the bar is a lounge bar with stone walls and fake beams, brewery mirror and trophy cabinet (they run successful darts, domino and football teams). The other side of the pub is a bit more basic and has a darts area at one end. A good selection of beers included Copper Dragon Golden Pippen, Batemans XB, Saltaire Texas Brown and the less interesting John Smiths. Prices were very reasonable, the customer base friendly and the pub was doing good trade despite being very late on a wet Tuesday evening which says something about its reputation among the local pubs, the rest of which were barely inhabited.. Very much a no thrills and nothing fancy sort of place but worthy of a visit, especially since I read somewhere that its future is in some doubt. I hope not.

Friendly street corner local, just up from the nearby Leopard. Fine pints of Copper Dragon and Batemans XB.
