Sadly now closed and apparently being developed for non=pub use. hollybush33 - 4 Feb 2024 19:03 |
After the delights of the Corporation Brewery Tap but a few minutes walk away this became a beacon of humanity whereby it is really just a standard street corner local doing a decent ale (Barnsley Bitter). Handy for the station. Snarling_Mallard - 2 Jun 2018 22:44 |
Called in yesterday evening, passing the currently closed Leopard, expecting to find the usual selection of well-kept ales. Only one ale available (York Guzzler had just gone off) which was brewed by the new Doncaster Brewery and was OK-ish though not really to my taste. Despite showing my CAMRA card the barman did not deduct the advertised discount for CAMRA members. I hope this is just a blip, as I have previously very much enjoyed the warm welcome and selection of ales in this establishment. Stamfordian - 11 Jun 2014 11:21 |
Popped in here while I was working in the area. Fantastic place! Met by friendly landlady, and a few friendly locals. Great selection of beers on. (Just a week too early for their beer festival unfortunately). Asked for some sandwiches, but they had stopped doing food at lunchtimes. However, the landlady sent out for some bread, raided her fridge, and did me a massive round of ham sandwiches! What a great place. The one down side (for me) is that this pub is 250 miles away from where I live. Hogarth - 26 Oct 2013 22:11 |
Came in after The Leopard and on my way to the Keepmoat for a match. 4 different ales on tap of which as recommended by the knowledgable and very helpful barmen I had 2 pints of Guzzler from the York brewery. MY first time supping a brew from this brewery and it was excellent. I enquired how far the football ground was away and after being told I could walk it in 20 mins the barman kindly offered to order me a cab when I wanted. The pub was empty save for a local and then as I was getting ready for my cab another 3 or 4 locals arrived. Cracking little pub that I do hope survives the crunch as it's doing all the right things. Keep up the good work. lezford - 19 Aug 2012 16:54 |
