lovely pub, great ale n foreign lagers. however this pub is like something out of the league of gentlemen
creepy masonic biker free masons, bar hoggers,
my particular favourite is a bloke who looks like a bo selecta character who sneezes like a machine gun and the volume of rock city, it'll scare you to bloody death when you hear him, he then goes to wipe his nose with a bit of snotty tissue the size of a stamp
apart from these annoying punters, great boozer.

Terrific little pub which we always try to visit when in Nottingham. Oakham ales are they standard offerings plus guests from other micro-breweries. Really friendly and chatty even at 11 15 on a Friday night (after a good away win at the City Ground) and the landlady even made me a couple of rolls to take back to our hotel for a midnight snack. Super boozer and well worth the visit.

Visited to see the mighty U’s perform better than last year and only lose 3-1 to County! Still worth the walk away from the centre to visit. I had a Scottish ruby ale which was excellent as was the JHB, my four fellow U's sufferers also enjoyed their ales. Friendly pub and anywhere else than Nottingham would probably spend a lot longer in here! Definitely worth another 9/10

Visited on 5 May when the mighty Us lost 4-1 to County. Pub was still closed when we arrived and had to wait a few minutes for the guy to open it up but it was worth it. A real down to earth boozer set in a none too scenic area! I had the Celtic Pale Ale which was exceptionally good dry and bitter, my mate had the Moose Juice also good, I went on to the Nottingham Pale (I think) which was good. Only stayed for two but this would be a great pub to stay in for session, but I wanted to sample the Cross Keys, Keans Head, Salutation and of course the Vat & Fiddle. 9/10

Gteat boozer with great choice of real ales. Can get busy due to concert hall being nearby.

Jinky11 obviously not been for a while. King Billy now a completely different place. Beer and atmosphere brilliant. Just a shame it's a bit out the way. Still good to link up with the Moot, The Nottingham Castle and Bunkers Hill if you don't mind walking

Came in here after a Bryan Adams concert at the FM arena. What a knockout little boozer! About 8 real ales on , cosy litle rooms, chatty locals, and the guvnor and his good lady in no rush to kick us out. Lovely!

Good boozer with a reasonable range of beers. Two rooms. Cobs available (every pub should have cobs/rolls available - they are just what you want with a pint). Just off the main city centre but well worth finding.

Although a little dubious about the caged windows, we ventured in and were pleasantly surprised. A nice mix of clientele and a good selection of real ale. Ordered a couple of pints and cobs and sat in the garden - which was very nice for what limited space they have. Will defintely go back.

A real gem of a pub - loads of different ales, sports screen, friendly staff annd locals!

Definately one not to miss on a serious ale crawl. Despite being a 5min trot out of town, and not accepting cards (nb-carrying large wads of cash in this part of town is not reccomended...unless buying heroin there of course) rewards greatly.
A nice mix of people as well - all ages welcome at this true no nonsense pub.

Cracking little pub. Good beer selection and reasonable prices. Friendly staff and a good bunch of locals. A bit out of the way but well worth putting yourself out to visit it. Get there for the Australian Beach Aerobics at 4:30pm !

Small and cosy traditional pub to the east of the City Centre, but within easy walking distance.
It's a fine street corner local. "Welcome to a traditional Victorian pub" is the exhortation outside. Inside is a small low ceilinged and comfortable interior with 2 interconnecting areas either side of the small bar. It's carpeted throughout, which is always a plus point in my book.
7 pumps serve a variety of mico-brewery beers. On my visit last week, these included 2 Oakham beers, Nottingham EPA and Hartington. Both the Nottingham EPA and the Oakham JHB were in good form.
The CAMRA 2009 GBG describes the pub as "one pub not to miss on a visit to Nottingham" and, whilst I'm not entirely convinced on that score, it's well worth seeking out and I'll try and get here again sometime.

Visited this Good Beer Guide pub while doing a crawl in March. Enjoyed a couple of beers with decent ABV's. Thornbridge Kipling 5.2% and Oakleaf Stokers Stout 5.0%. Friendly pub with a good choice of ales.
