Has reverted back to the Farmers Arms. Popular with families on sunny days. The beer garden is often crowded.

Seemed a chain pub, but this was August 13th 2020.. in our 'new (shite) normal' world.. I'm always positive, and whilst the app appeared annoying, there were plenty of friendly staff taking orders. I had Wainwrights bitter, and my wife had food which was good with fast service..

Closed in 2017, was refurbished and re-opened (quicker than BITE). Now called the Old Rathbone.

Pleasant enough pub. Can be full of kids running around screaming for mummy and daddy and generally knocking things over but a nice enough pub. Is on the expensive side though.

A beautiful country pub for families, very children friendly with play areas and large garden, excellent food and real ale. The ideal place to take the family for a nice meal out. The pub has live music on Wednesday and Friday nights and often has live music on a Sunday afternoon in the garden. Look on facebook under the Farmers Arms Frankby to see who is on and when

Not worth a visit I'm afraid to say. 10-15 years ago, this place was a decent place to go for a drink. All you get now is poor service by young, clueless staff who prefer to have a chit-chat with the few sad regulars standing at the bar rather than provide a quality service to other customers. At the time of writing, this pub charges �3.30 for a pint of Stella and is quiet. The Greave Dunning charges �2.95 and is full of customers. On a positive note, the food is quite nice. No sign of any "management" on the premises whatsoever.

I visited this pub with my parents and my daughter for a holiday treat. I chose it based on the reviews posted, which now appear a little too complimentary. The rose tinted glasses used to describe this pub really misled me. Anyway down to my review based on my recent experience of the food and drinks.
It started badly with a request for some glasses of medium white wine only to be told they only had one wine i.e. a dry white. It was not a great wine and a pub with only one type of wine cannot score over 7/10 in a review. I thought ah well maybe a small problem with a delivery. However, the food was universally dire.
The 'Home Made' burgers sounded nice, but when I ordered them I was told they did not have time today to make them fresh, so they will be frozen. Honesty aside, can a place selling home made food really say they did not have time to make it fresh. The burgers were dry and over done.
My father ordered the fillet medallions in a red wine and onion sauce - oh dear what arrived looked like pedigree chum sitting in a watery brown gravy. Tasteless.
Next up was the chilli con carne that was so dry it was stiff and could be moulded into any shape. The mince was like sand as it had been cooked so much. Disappointing.
Finally was the Farmers Chicken (called Hunters Chicken everywhere else) which was a chicken breast smothered in cheese and BBQ sauce or so the menu stated. What arrived was a solid lump that my daughter peeled and all the cheese and sauce came off! The chicken underneath was so dry it was hard to swallow. Quite an achievement to coat a chicken in BBQ sauce and melted cheese and it is still dryer than sandpaper.
Sorry to go on, but I thought I needed to balance the reviews based on my real experience. I was looking forward to a meal with my family, but this was very poor. The surly barmaid did not help who dealt with my complaint by shrugging her shoulders.
