Looks like a dosshouse from the outside and feels like one on the inside. Entry is often barred by police crime scene tape.

Great place to see a band upstairs but the pub itself is desperate. Expect an epic wait to be served. No-One has explained 'use your discetion' to the doorman. I was asked for ID last week. I'm 58.

Large, high-ceilinged (although with unsightly air conditioning pipes) pub on the Pentonville Road, seemingly aimed at the in-crowd. Large selection of whiskies but they do real ale, despite some of the previous comments to the contrary. Eclectic music on the jukebox (a good thing) and a male, then female live DJ, were spinning some laid-back tunes in the background. The age range was mixed, so makes it difficult to categorise this place, but I liked it.

My sort of music venue small and with really good sound. Brooklyn Summer ale was £5 and I popped into craft which was even dearer. Liked it though.

Good selection of American beers and whiskies, but nothing too much to get ale drinkers excited.
Obviously draws a music-loving crowd, but if you just want a quiet pint or two, I'd head elsewhere.

Large pub near Angel with a gig venue. Seems to cater for the music crowd as the jukebox is pretty comprehensive and varied. Could do with being turned down slightly though as it was difficult to make conversation. No ale on when I visited with both pump clips turned around although the Brooklyn lager was perfectly acceptable.

Large pub with music upstairs - glam nights some Saturdays! to get your fix of The Sweet, etc, which attracts a varied fanbase. Clearly very crowded downstairs - you kind of develop crowd navigation skills. At least people are polite if you are.
Beer is various foreign beers but also some Sambrook's ales in cask, which was pleasant and 3.50 a pint - yes I know, but that's London prices and considering the place doubles as a club, not too bad at all. Apparently the massproduced cider available upstairs is a lot more than that.

I haven't much to add to the previous posters except to that if I'm in there, I'll be drinking the bourbon at least. Pretty busy when I visited on a Saturday night, but the music was enjoyable - an eclectic mix of forgotten indie and rock tunes from the last 40 years or so. I'll probably come back if I find myself in this part of town again.

American themed bourbon bar with a very nice music venue upstairs. As mentioned by other reviewers they do have a very impressive range of bourbons (and a few other very interesting whiskeys). They have also made a significant effort in sourcing American beers. Starting with the more "typical" - Sierra Nevada on draught, and bottles like Anchor Steam, Brooklyn and Goose Island. But also some of the more "specialty" beers from Flying Dog, Rogue and Saranac. None of them cheap (mostly around 4/bottle, 4.50 for a pint of sierra nevada) but I appreciate the effort. A couple of token cask ales (Pride/Spitfire) as well.
Average food, mostly of an American/Mexican style (burgers + sweet potato chips; burritos; chili; wings).

The music venue upstairs is a good room - nicely proportioned for live music and in my experience they do a good job with the sound. Upstairs bar has a very limited selection vs. downstairs.

Great gig venue upstairs but be careful of the clientele - had my ipod nicked in here.

Feels like it should be a rock pub, but its full of skinny jean-wearing indie types as there's live music of that genre upstairs most nights. Downstairs is sort of grubby-chic, lots of flyers/posters and reclaimed furniture as well as a chandelier in need of a good clean.

Great list of bourbons but this appears to be wasted on the clientele. I was the only one not drinking beer/cider. Mental. One of the main draws is the food. The kitchen is run by the team behind posh gastropubs like The Cadogan Arms, The Gun etc, but its American themed so expect ribs, hot dogs and so on. Good burgers, great onion rings and massive portions. Best meal I've had in Kings Cross for a while thats for sure.

Will definitely be back again. Ideal for a few whiskies before a gig at the Scala or the Water Rats nearby.

I called in here some time ago, shortly after they opened as The Lexington, and it was quite busy on a Monday night. Bills itself as a Whiskey Bar and they do have an impressive range including some rare stuff like Hirsch and Weller 19. Dont go expecting Scotch Whisky though. Despite the impressive display of around 50 different bottles I didnt see anyone drinking them, it was all lager and trendy cider. Thre was no cask ale at that time although I did manage to get a bottle of London Pride for 3.90. The fact that I was asked if I wanted a glass with it probably highlighted the lack of experience throughout the bar staff.

Big square corner pub done out in clashing styles but attractive nonetheless. High ceiling. Specializes in whisky with huge range lined up at the back of the long bar.

At least 2 real ales.

Table football at 1 a time and free jukebox with good selection of music.

Live music upstairs.
