Four pumps, Teignworthy Reel Ale, Old Moggie and Dartmoor Legend, the other pump not used. Very good choice of food, large portions and excellent vegetables at the carvery. We ate in the pub - no need to use the restaurant part.

On the road out of Dawlish towards Teignmouth is this large road side inn with views across to the sea.
A huge pub with half of it arranged as a restaurant & the other half as a pub with lots of seats, a few fruit machines and pool table.
On the bar are 4 hand pumps which had 2 ales on, these were Dartmouth Brewery Legend and Teignmouth Reel Ale. My pint of Legend was very good.
A friendly pub with a huge amount of space and apparently good value food. The weather wasn't that good so the large outside patio area was empty but on a good weather day the coastal views would be excellent.

You can come here for only a drink if you want, just time your visit outside of meal times. Having said that we had our meal in the bar area anyway. It is a busy place and the outside area is limited. Some decent ales on too. Decent enough place.
8/10

As the sign at the door says, this is not a pub but a carvery restaurant. That said it does serve 3 real ales and has a very pleasent sunny terrace overlooking the sea, so I guess that in the Winter when its quieter it probably is more like a pub. The pint was very welcome on a hot sunny walk from Teignmouth to Dawlish!

THIS IS NOT A PUB.
Don't go there expecting it to be one, like I did.
The bar area is really just a waiting room until you get seated in the huge dining room.
We left without eating as we were so unimpressed with the lack of atmosphere and the army of pensioners, just there for the food.

Visited this pub recently whilst on holiday in Dawlish Warren. Went in on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed, just about managed to find a table. We had a carvery meal which we found pretty good with a good selection of veg. Maybe slightly exspensive but on the whole ok. Service was reasonable considering they were very busy.

Go too the Smugglers everytime i'm in the area.been going for a few years now and this place does it for me. Always have the carvery as it's plentiful and tasty and well set out.can always say that it has been busy each time i have visited. The staff are pleasant and efficient and make you feel at home.

I visit Dawlish 4 or 5 times a year to see relatives and the Smugglers is a great pub for a friendly welcome and a good selection of hearty pub food to be eaten in the restaurant, bar area or outside to take advantage of the great view. The carvery is among the best I have tasted with locally sourced meats (3 to choose from) and constantly replenished potatoes and vegetables. The pub is well run with attentive staff and they have a good selection of beers. Well recommended.

A food-orientated pub with a restaurant and pleasant outdoor area at the rear. It's located on a main road, and has a large car park. The restaurant can get busy at weekends and will often need advance booking; however, the same food is served in the rest of the pub, so it's very unlikely you'll be turned away. The staff are friendly and efficient and the beer is well kept. The food is a mixture of standard pub fare but also some specials that are a cut above average, while the prices are fair.
