Bit of an odd place this , seating arrangements are a bit odd. The main room is long and thin. They had 7 ales on, including 4 from Leeds brewery; i went for midnight bell as a regular at the pub I work at said it's one of his favourite beers, which was 3.80 a pint. The first pint was sour, bottom of the barrel and was changed and the woman changed the barrel and gave me a second pint. Was a decent pint tbf, I'm not sure I'm that keen on Leeds brewery beers, nothing much to them for me, but midnight bell is probably their best beer. The other 3 were guest beers. It's a decent atmosphere in here and I would return as it's close to the station and the prices aren't too extortionate.

A superb choice of real ales but avoid weekend evenings if you like to enjoy supping your pints. Ultra convenient for the station and tons better than the 'spoons on the concourse.

I visited Leeds in January and was unimpressed by the lax barstaff. However, I eventually got a beer. It was so cool it had a chill haze and no real taste.
I gave the pub another chance last night, but upon opening the door the stench of seafood was too much for me.

Very nice indeed and handily located for Leeds station. I was supposed to be detoxing on my visit to Leeds but couldn't resist a Yorkshire Gold in here. And then another etc...
|
A nice thing to see in that it does a good job of pleasing everyone - it's close to the station, has a super selection of ales and yet is fashionable enough for it to be not too male a haunt. A great effort and a must stop on any visit to Leeds.

A decent modern style bar just round the corner from the station. A good selection of well kept cask ales and friendly service. Recommended.

Great pub in the 'modern style'. Lots of cask, half of which are house brews. Not quite fernandes in wakefield standard but pretty good all the same. Served a trifle cold which is better than a trifle warm I suppose. Still, that's carping. Cheery attractive helpful staff. A must stop off and meeting place in Leeds.

I like it, had Gathering storm which was decent.

Modern bar/restaurant close to Leeds station. Busy with a good atmosphere. A wide range of beers and a good menu at reasonable prices.
|
Modern bar near the station . Has a range of Leeds ales on the Best was okay but have had better.

Fantastic place. Owned and run by the Leeds Brewery and mainly serving their fine selection of real ales. Always busy. Food is fantastic. Give it a go!

on my last 2 visits to the flagship of the leeds brewery there own beers have tasted of gnats piss, the tables never seem to be cleared the food is overpriced. and the toilets are filthy , this said the folk who drink in there let them get away with it. ....tut go down the steps to the scarbourgh taps where the leeds brewery beers are well kept and cheaper
|
Leeds Brewery pub that is a very nice, albeit cramped venue to enjoy a few pints of the local brewerys fine ales. Just dont wear anything resembling sportswear or the mobile toting doorstaff will bar you entry. Maybe not such a bad thing.............
|
Excellent Leeds Brewery beers in a busy but friendly pub. Modern, which may upset some of the purists but the quality of the beer cannot be doubted.

Called in last night on the way back to the station - Great range of beers both ales and lagers. Staff friendly and efficient especially as they were short staffed. Decor seemed nice enough.

Hoped this was going to be good after speaking to friends.... Its not that bad, yes the tables are cheap and dirty (but where aren't they now?) Beer is pretty good, seriously let down by management though. When will people realise.... Volume does not equal Atmosphere. We couldn't hear ourselves think in the afternoon. Could easily be made a lot better, will try again.

Nice idea, and I'm a big fan of Leeds' beers, but Leeds brewery's new pub left me cold on my last visit (a Saturday afternoon). Good location and excellent beer (I think four from Leeds) but the layout, the cheap furniture, the sticky tables with leftover food strewn across them and the poor service from staff who seemed more interested in chatting to each other than in serving the growing number of customers did the place no favours. 5/10, all marks purely for the beer, not the venue.

Overly trendy addition to Leeds Brewery's growing number of pubs. Neither appeals to the camra real ale crowd or the trendy city drinker but is worth a visit too and from Leeds City Railway Station. Was a bit bemused the other week to see a dj strutting his stuff on a small table beside the bar..............

Very modern bar, recently opened. A fine selection of Leeds' brewery beers on modern chrome handpumps, the very quaffable Leeds Pale in fine form on my visit. This is also complemented by a large selection of Continental brews. The place hasn't yet shaken off the unmistakable 'new bar' feel and there is a distinct lack of character to the place for me, accentuated by the fact that my visit was at lunchtime and there were lots of suits in the spartan, whitewashed room. There are, however, interesting large photos of Leeds on the walls. Give it time and I'm sure it'll pick up character, I won't be averse to visiting again as the beer was spot on. Worth a visit.

A Jekyll and Hyde pub. At lunchtime, nice and quiet and you can have a chat while sampling the decent ales. At night, modern music is played at a volume that seems to grow louder as the evening progresses. Strange to see a few old boys sat around seemingly oblivious to the noise.

After a year of opening this place is more homely and relaxed than it was upon opening. A couple of real ciders on last time I visited, and the usual 3 or 4 Leeds Brewery ales plus a couple of guests, in addition to 2 European brews (that's Leffe and Hoegaarden, not Stella and Kronenbourg). Good for a stop off for a pint or two, but the layout isn't the best for encouraging a good atmsphere IMO. Still too many harsh furniture edges and IKEA feeling to the place but the beer makes up for it.
|
Worth a visit whether you are having a daytime pint or looking for somewhere to start the night, especially if youve just jumped off the train. Plenty of choice whether it be Leeds Brewery or your more mainstream options.
|
Great range of beers with not just Leeds brewery represented, pub was a little chaotic but there was plenty of space on the first floor. Very convenient for the train station - a 3 minute walk way.
|
I liked this place, probably would appeal to the younger crowd, for example the music (although not too loud) playing was of 'The Editors' ilk. Modern design, trendy I suppose, yadda, yadda. Quite busy on a Saturday afternoon and retreated uptairs where we could sit comfortable at a table. Beer was good and for me that's important, lots of different ales available and spreading real ale to a slightly different demographic too.
|
Good range of Leeds ales and friendly informative service, though something not quite right regarding the interior as others have stated - perhaps slightly bland. Popped in two nights running - very surprised to find it so quiet on Halloween evening , though the lack of atmosphere was tempered somewhat by the DJ's excellent musical selections
|
Had a fine pint of Lancaster Red in here the other day. A little pricy at 2.60 when there are two Wetherspoons a short walk away. It had usual range of Leeds Brewery beers on, plus Leffe, Erdinger and two or three guest ales.
The decor and ambience don't really let you relax in here, it's very bright and everything is very wooden. I'm sure after a year or two it will appear more homely and inviting but at the moment there is something missing.

Bar like venue with 12 handpumps serving the Leeds Brewery range plus guests, including Tetley Mild, and Milestones, all I tried were in excellent condition. There is also an eclectic collection of lagers. Plain beige walls, stained boards and modern but practical furniture in one large, long room with big clear windows along one wall. More seating in a room upstairs, where there is also a room containing some brewing equipment, this may or may not be used as I didn't see anything resembling a fermentation vessel. It is labelled The Brewhouse. Plainer and less designer styled than the Midnight Bell, another of Leeds Brewery's houses, but perhaps suited to its location and I presume its target demographic. Acoustic music night every second Thursday.
|
This is a very new pub and as such could (and I'm sure will) be attacked by some on here for lacking atmosphere or old school charm. Me, well I primarily go to pubs for the beer and the tap does not disappoint - Leeds Pale Ale in top form alongside Midnight Bell, Tetleys Mild and a couple of other guests. I think this place is excellent and well worth a look, one of many good pubs in the vicinity.
|
Not much to add to Gann's description other than they now have a small micro-brewery upstairs producing a lager called 'Leodis', which sadly had just ran out when we visited. Tried the Leeds Pale and Samba and both were fine. The two non-Leeds brewery beers were from Osset. Very handy for the train station.

Tad expensive, but otherwise agree with the previous comment

The Brewery Tap Leeds This is the third of The Leeds Brewery own pubs opened in November 2008. Its handily placed close to the train station and round the corner from the Scarbrough Hotel. Very modern clean dcor and design with bar at the back and wooden tables along the side and by three large windows which run along the slight curvature of the pub. These windows make it quite bright inside and have an interesting decorative design showing the component parts of the brewery process. I was informed by the barstaff that the pubs policy is to have six real ale hand pumps on the go, namely the three permanent Leeds ales (Best, Pale and Midnight Bell), a seasonal one, which was New Moon on my visit, and two guests. I didnt note these down but seem to remember one being called Copper Fox ? Good food menu also, but didnt eat as we werent here for the food. Between us we tried all the Leeds Ales and they were excellent, especially the dark mild. Service was good but not really tested as there werent many in on a wet Good Friday afternoon. However, I didnt see anything that would not lead me to believe that the Brewery tap is another solid addition to the Leeds city centre real ale outlets.
