The Ramsden Arms is not far from Blackpool North station. But it feels on a bit of a limb away from the town centre. It has a large interior with a couple of rooms. 2 ales were on - Wainwright & The Rev James. I went for the latter, which was ok. Very quiet on my Saturday afternoon visit with only a couple of others plus the barmaid in. Live football had just been on when I arrived.

Excellent quality real ale, two available. A good place to go to watch the football.

Well worn and rough round the edges. In the GBG though the only ale on offer was a mediocre pint of Pedigree. Close to the station but not worth crossing the road to.

I imagine at some point this pub was a lot better, but it's not exactly bad now.
The atmosphere is beautiful - surrounded by old artifacts and great old architecture, which is strange with the huge modern new supermarket being build next door (They can't knock it down luckily it's listed). Very friendly staff, and two ales on which weren't too interesting in choice (Wadworth 6X, Ruddles County). Slightly busy on a week night and popular with locals.
All in all, not awful but not amazing either.

This used to be a regular watering hole for us when we came to Blackpool but it is now sadly a bit of a dump. Very down-at-heel and only 2 beers on tap (Theakstons Best Bitter and Bombardier!!!!) so left without having a drink as I just did not fancy the place any more. Hopefully somebody will get it back to its old self in time for the new development opening next door! Great shame but I shall not be returning until something drastic changes.

As usual when in an unfamiliar town I try to visit as many pubs in the Good Beer Guide as possible. Visited the Ramsden one evening recently whilst in Blackpool for several days. There were 3 real ales on sale and I opted for a pint Tetleys on special at 2.30 a pint. The Tetleys (in my opinion as the pub staff wouldnt venture an opinion) was at best stale if not off. A look of indignation from bar staff does not stop the ale from being off. The bar maid poured a taster for the landlord to try. He declined saying he didnt drink ale. He continued by suggesting that I stop drinking ale and should try larger! An unfortunate comment. I declined the offer of an alternative half to replace my part drunk pint. I dont think any such comments have a place in a CAMRA backed pub or indeed any professionally run customer focused establishment.
Its broadly against my principals to recommend a Wetherspoons over a more traditional pub. However, better beer range (and from local micros), better quality and cheaper at 1.99 a pint, makes for a compelling argument for one of the three now in Blackpool centre (plus a pleasant one in Wood St, St Annes). Alternatively, jump on a train from North station, 7 minutes to Poulton-le-Flyde for an evening in delightful pubs. Landlords most take greater care of their hard earned patrons.

An outstanding "local" pub with very good bar staff. A special mention for the outstanding Annabel in particular!

Went here at the weekend as was staying in Blackpool ,a great pub, more for locals than the stag and hen party crowd. Very friendly staff and very welcoming. Worth a visit.

wouldn't have thought bout looking for this place if it wasnt for it's listing in the 2011 good beer guide, it's on the non town centre side of the train station . it had three ales on of which i opted for a bargain priced pint of hereford celtic gold which was fine and just 2.10 a pint , 7/10

Imposing, traditional pub in the 'brewers Tudor' style, located close to Blackpool North railway station. Good atmosphere, with plenty of original features and memorabilia to look at. Five handpumps, offering a decent selection of real ales such as the World Cup special 4-4-2 at a very reasonable 2.05. Has a plaque indicating that it is (or perhaps was?) a Tetley Heritage Pub.

Close to Blackpool North railay station, lovely pub with friendly staff and 4 cask ales that were in good condition and included a couple of unusual ones.
By far the best pub I've found in many visits to Blackpool, equalled only maybe by The Shovels at the far south of town

went in 19th september for couple of pints with my brother. five real ales on all at decent prices and all well kept. recommend for a couple if in blackpool.

Another great Blackpool pub - dark and smokey, with light cutting through in slopes - lots of wood panelling, brass, jugs and animal heads.
