Kings Head, Holtback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
But they closed early, last orders had been called by 22:10,??!!

Hotel/pub. Distinct area for a bar, as well as a bar in the food area. 3or 4 pumps of ale, Moon Gazer Jigfoot, Wild Summer, Wherry andlocal "craft ale" 😏 lucky Lobster. Friendly staff multitasking, bar, waitress, receptionist, but did a good job.

Since my last visit, two and a half years ago, The Kings Head has had a massive refurbishment, by Chris Coubrough, (a local celebrity chef?), and is now part of the Flying Kiwi Group. This is no longer a pub. It is a restaurant that serves beer. In this case, a combination that doesn't work too well. The food is expensive, but it is very good, as one would expect. But they do have jus on the menu, not gravy - A pet dislike of mine. I had a pint of the Adnams Southwold bitter I have had a lot better. I have changed my original rating from 1 to 6, purely for the food and service.

as always top notch ale food and service,we return every year and have never been let down.

Not quite sure where this is going - good food, good beer, but the 70s rock soundtrack and what appeared to be some slightly odd customers were jarring... Seems to be work in progress - but not a bad town centre pub.

think you might have the wrong pub here bloke.
there's two pubs called the king's head in the area. this one in letheringsett, about 2 miles outside holt and the one you described on the high street in the middle of holt.
the letheringsett version is owned by a kiwi called chris coubrough who has made a name for himself creating top class gastro pubs and hotels in the area. he also owns the crown hotel in wells next the sea where i have stayed and can vouch for its high quality.
i haven't been to the king's head in letheringsett yet so i can't comment on it, but will once i have done so.

Large, and very busy, pub on the main road. I understand it has recently been taken over. Food was very good, but not cheap. Beer well kept. (I was impredded that the barmaid spotted a slightly cloudy pint and didn't serve it.) Worth a vist.

Called in one evening, last November, when we were staying in the area, lured by the impressive sign on the main road. We were the only customers. The food was reasonably priced and the gammon was excellent. Mrs Pigeon was not impressed by the vaguely warm lasagne. Once things were placed on the table, they would not move, as it was so sticky. As to the beer, I had a pint of Abbot. I left most of it as it was stale. Nice fire. I have since learned tat the place is closed and being completely refurbished.
