you would have to go a long way to find a nicer beer garden. Brilliant in summer. Six of us ate here and everyones food was excellent and not overpriced. I agree with the previous comment though. Two years on the beer choice of Otter Ale or Otter bitter is really uninspiring. Pub has obviously gone in a different direction since winning the CAMRA award.

Only two Otter ales on the handles when we went in - why was this pub the West Dorset CAMRA pub of the year in 2011 then? The interior is much later than I would have supposed from the age of the pub.

A very good place indeed. Cosy on the inside and also a wonderful beer garden. My only complaint is that everyone seems to know about this place and i prefer more hidden secret places (fussy i know!)

Lovely little place. Both the Otter Ale and Bitter were in good nick.

Did'nt eat but the food looked good.

Very friendly staff. Nice, home cooked food................The Crown Inn at Uploders is nicer for eating, but is more expensive. Highly recommended if you want to eat on a tighter budget.

The Spyway Inn at Askerswell is without doubt one of the best pubs in West Dorset. We attended on Friday December 11th for the Christmas lunch and received a very warm welcome from the proprietor and staff. Our meal, with a choice of several options, was excellent, very good value at 14.99 a head, and could not be faulted. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and it is clear the proprietor works hard and goes out of his way to make a visit an enjoyable experience, something which other pubs in the area fall far short of. It reminded us of the time some years ago when the pub was run by Mr Roderick who was renowned for his food and service. Sadly Mr Roderick is no longer around but I'm sure he's looking down very favourably on the pub as it is now being run!

First taken to thiis pub two years ago when the beer and food were excellent. Was in the area again over Easter and made a return visit, whilst the outside could do with a lick of paint its loacation and inside make up for that. Signposted from the A354 it is about a mile up in the Hills. Large Garden and Carpark, Families welcome and has 4* Accommodation. Had some very nice well kept Otter Best Bitter and the Food and Service were Supurb. Well Recoomended. Evening Food starts at 18:30. Will defo be back next year.
