A large pub with decent cask ales.

After 13 fairly average/poor pubs in Greater Manchester, I finally hit lucky with this one. It's a prominent building located on a street corner and the interior is just as impressive. The first thing you notice is the grand staircase, which overlooks the central bar. There are 2 or 3 large side rooms too. The 3 ales were also decent - Dog House UPA & Columbus Brown & Dunscar Monroe Blonde. As this is a rugby-mad town, a foreign rugby match was showing on the TV. The gents left a lot to be desired. But I quite liked this pub.

Worth a visit to see what large multi roomed town centre pubs were like. The Moorhouses Bitter wasa drinkable not nothing great.

Fine old structure. Two Moorhouses bitters,at the right price, usually available.Unfortunately the mild is Theakston's keg.Not very nice.
If in Leigh worth a visit.

Fantastic multi-roomed pub. Three hand pulled bitters in excellent condition & very reasonably priced (although had to ask for top-ups because measures well short of a full pint). Lunchtime food good quality & value for money.

great pub cheap for a beer. the most notice in this pub is the staircase in the middle of the pub. this pub was to be knocked down in 1980 but leigh people did not want it knocked down and still is a pub to this day

Love this pub. A warm, welcoming pub that hasn't really been affected too much by the smoking ban and/or credit crunch. Nice regulars, tap room, sky, plenty of spce but the best bit is the home made food!
It's the best pub food in Leigh I can guarantee, and sometimes they do decent offers on meals through the day. They shut (the kitchen) at 2.30pm though.
