A large pub with decent cask ales. alexw - 4 Feb 2019 16:01 |
After 13 fairly average/poor pubs in Greater Manchester, I finally hit lucky with this one. It's a prominent building located on a street corner and the interior is just as impressive. The first thing you notice is the grand staircase, which overlooks the central bar. There are 2 or 3 large side rooms too. The 3 ales were also decent - Dog House UPA & Columbus Brown & Dunscar Monroe Blonde. As this is a rugby-mad town, a foreign rugby match was showing on the TV. The gents left a lot to be desired. But I quite liked this pub. blue_scrumpy - 10 Jul 2017 21:10 |
Worth a visit to see what large multi roomed town centre pubs were like. The Moorhouses Bitter wasa drinkable not nothing great. anonymous - 26 Feb 2013 16:48 |
Fine old structure.Two Moorhouses bitters,at the right price,usually available.Unfortunately the mild is Theakston's keg.Not very nice. If in Leigh worth a visit. oldandmild - 4 Oct 2012 05:10 |
Fantastic multi-roomed pub. Three hand pulled bitters in excellent condition & very reasonably priced (although had to ask for top-ups because measures well short of a full pint). Lunchtime food good quality & value for money. phigson - 13 Oct 2010 20:17 |
