Golden Eagle, Derbyback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Very smart estate/locals pub on the periphery of the City.
Tap House for Titan Beer and their Titan Pale was distinctive and in good condition.

Has to be said, that this was the best pint sampled in Derby. Their own brewed porter was eagerly (pun) drank.
The pub itself was spacious inside, which was quite misconceiving from the outside.
Landlord was pleasant and accommodating.

The first thing you notice about this pub is the huge murals painted on the outside, whether it is a trolleybus on the side, or St George on the front. The first thing you notice about the inside of the pub is how light and airy it is. Not futuristically modern, but everything has been covered with light-coloured paint or plaster. Making a change from the usual heavily sculpted wooden interiors of many pubs. Several photos of local historical interest on the walls – complete with lengthy description / explanations. (take note Flowerpot !) Unfortunately the information about Derby trolleybuses is accompanied by a photo of a London one !
They have their own Titan beers (actually I think they are brewed at Mr Grundys). On the first of my two visits, they had a couple available and I tried the Bitter. The second time there was only one Titan beer on, but a couple from North Star (in Ilkeston), of which I tried the Pathfinder. In all there were 4 or 5 beers available.
Not sure about food, but an advert in Derby Drinker mentions Scotch Eggs (yuck !).
6/10 – a pleasant place but nothing special.

Lovely backstreet boozer, attractively modernised both outside and in. About 6 real ales on, in good condition, served in handled ‘dimpled’ beer glasses, a nice touch from the past. Wide, changing selection of beers. Dog friendly. Bar staff prompt and welcoming. Seemed to attract a nice group of locals when we visited. Board announces live music every Thursday 8-11pm, though we haven’t sampled that yet. Upstairs open too, though rooms distant from the bar never have quite the same atmosphere in any pub. Overall, felt like a genuine, friendly pub getting everything right. Will return soon

Excellent pub just off the centre and with the added bonus that the landlord brews his own beers (currently at Mr Grundys). He is also very helpful and informative.

Visited this pub on a day out in Derby as apparently it is now the outlet for the Titan brewery. Inside was clean and pleasant and the barman was friendly. The Titan beers were well kept and served and came in dimpled mugs. This is in the midst of student-land but as it was one in the afternoon on December 30th none of Derby's finest were in evidence. I can't say what evenings are like. Never-the-less it is another reasonable alehouse to add to the growing number of excellent watering holes in this fine city.

Hasn't been called the Golden Eagle for a few years now. This is very much a student nob heads pub in the middle of all those student flats.
