Small pub with large drinking area and beer garden behind. Selling Grain beers. Friendly welcome. Did a very good and cheap Sausage and Onion pie.

I should have allowed more time for this pub as it was a well worth the walk from the city centre. Grain Brewery beers which were in good nick and a very pleasant barmaid who appeared to know the beers made for an enjoyable visit - brief as it was. Wood floors pastel cloours and chunky furniture from memory. Daily papers and I think they did food but I had to move on so couldn't catch everything. Norwich is very luck in having so many great real ale pubs with varying charcaters - this is another that is well worth visiting.

For years this was a pub that you would not want to go in. Now it has been transformed with a rustic feel inside and a pleasant garden at the back. Not sure if they do any food. Serves only Grain beers which I did not have much knowledge about. The friendly girl behind the bar knew all about the beers and helped with our selection. Definitely the best pub on St. Benedicts.

Cracking pub on St.Benedicts, the proper part of Norwich (along with Magdelan street) all the Grain beers are available, the Blonde, an unfiltered wheat beer is fantastic. The beer prices are a little pricey.

Very good pub with excellent beer. Friendly with a good sized garden at the back. We will definately return again. The blackwood stout was very morish.
|
Very pleasant pub with friendly staff and a decent selection of ales. Has a large beer garden out the back. A visit is highly recommended.

Plough offers some of the most innovative norfolk ale you can get. Personally, I would prefer 3-5 unique, well-kept ales rather than 10-50 mediocre, tired ones. Disagree with strawdog's rating (who fyi gave same rating to walnut tree shades and ber street gates).
Think this pub hits the mark for a city centre pub. Staff is welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient. does get wanked out at peak times, but even 1000 hipsters can't be wrong...

I like the place. Not a wide range of beer but those they have are in good nick. Got a few daft pub games you can play if you're sufficiently pissed too.
|
Four Grain beers on when I visited including the excellent Oak and Blackwood Stout, as well as several botlled ales from Brew Dog. Has the feel of a "heldy weldy" old country Pub with its open fire. A worthy addition to Norwich's already burgeoning selection of excellent real ale pubs

makes me laugh ive known bout the huge beer garden for five years.. it took a new manager to come in and open some doors..and now its packed full off the under 40's.
went in the ten bells last night and it was empty maybe 15 ppl in there at 8ish..plough packed.
its a small pub and a small range of ales and beers.
6/10

What a change, top marks to Grain Brewery for the investment and style they have put into what was a no go area. its great. lovley beer and great G&T. A nice Beer garden which is rare for Norwich. Good to see other beers than Grain on the bar. Best of luck!

The Plough used to be horrible but Grain brewery has done it up nicely.
Excellent back garden for a city centre pub.
Very nice beer.
Thoroughly recommended.

Recently re-opened under the ownership of the Grain Brewery. Five real ales, usually three of theirs plus guests which have so far been from Earl Soham. Also a good range of Grain bottled beers (which could be better advertised, as could the real ales - no board so you have to peer at the pump clips over people's shoulders). Good selection of spirits and wines - the G&T is excellent! Really nicely re-furbished and decorated inside, with a fabulous beer garden out the back, and all the 'no's that make for a great pub - no loud music, no pool table, no machines, no TV, no t***rs.
