I wanted to go in but it was empty at 9 pm on a friday night so I didn't bother.

Strange but delightful setup. If you want to eat, as we did, you are lead through a long narrow corridor up some stairs and just as you begin to wonder what's going on, a spacious room with a high ceiling and stunning views appears! Magic. there are 2 large windows so if you want a good view, phone ahead and reserve a table. The food was great; Lamb shanks & veg. Cooked by the landlady who seems to have great ability. Ale was very good. Landlord very chatty, nice bloke. Great pub , just add a few more 'pub decorations' to liven the look up a bit and for goodness sake advertise the dining room better, it's a gem.

I visited here a week or so ago and found the Ale good.

Really don't understand the vile reports, particularly from one user, nearly gave this a miss due to the adverse comments, but decided to try it anyway. I could not have wished for a better meal, service or evening overall, and do not recall being asked to pay up front either, that always makes me wary straight away!
The landlord & landlady seemed perfectly sociable & friendly enough to me. I would certainly make a point of returning to this pub if in the area again.

how dare you make out im not a geninue member on here and that im infact the landlord or landlady . Unlike you i do not have all the time in the world to sit on this site acting like a 2yr old i actually have a job and work very hard and by the time i have finished for the day this is usually when i get to go online . i am very offended by your comment.I dont know who or what you are but keyboard warrior springs to mind .. you hurl verbal abuse to so many pubs on here and its disgraceful . I have submitted my full details to BEER IN THE EVENING so that they can see im no fake unlike some .. I have also reported you for abuse .. back off and get a life or maybe how many pubs you claim to have visited in such a short space of time i think you should get help for your alcoholism .. i am also looking into your ip address so i can see who you really are and see what your purpose is into being so unkind to so many people .

Well Pissflap as you like to call yourself . vile name matches the vile comments. your comment annoyed me and after spending a couple mins looking into you i realised very quickly that day in day out you make comments about many different pubs in many different areas. Its clear that you have far too much time on your hands and obviously need to get a day time job as you have made 30 disgraceful comments regarding pubs since JAN 2012 clearly would indicate you need to get a life . you clearly log into this site by the hour to leave unfair comments and judge the comments of others . ANYONE THAT WOULD LIKE TO VIEW ALL THE COMMENTS PISSFLAP HAS MADE SINCE JAN 2012 SIMPLY CLICK ON THEIR USER NAME TO THR RIGHT OF THEIR COMMENT AND THEN CLICK VIEW ALL COMMENTS .. I would not believe a word this user says at all .

Came back to the area a couple weeks ago for a holiday, its the 9th year on the trot and each time my family and i visit the london inn and i can truthfully we have a fantastic time each time we visit . The landlord john and landlady sue are lovely people and we are always made to feel so welcome . We have introduced members of our family to this area and recommended for them to also visit the london inn . We eat at the pub each evening during our stay and the menu is fantastic with so much to choose from .. a favourite of mine has to be the homemade steak and ale pie its simply divine ! The food is piping hot and you get an absolute plateful. All the staff have always been so friendly and nothing is too much trouble .We have tried other pubs in the town and i have to say some are very nice and others you want to wipe your feet on the way out ! we are planning to visit again in july for 2 weeks . we only found watchet 9 years ago by total mistake we got lost coming back from another holiday but we are glad we did as we love it there . people are so friendly and its so welcoming ..

i hope you are not referring to me. fyi i joined this site to add the review about the london inn as the reports id read on this site bore absolutely no resemblance to what we received there last night. we are a skittles team from warminster on our annual end of season weekend away. staying at haven park in donniford bay. we spent the day on wsr and ended in watchet. we had never been to watchet or the london until last night. if other pubs had been able to seat us last night we would never had gone to the london because of this sites reviews. i felt the reviews bore no resemblence to what we experienced and we wanted to balance it a bit. i would be more than happy to confirm that i have nothing to do with the london inn or any of the staff. happy for anybody to contact me ditect. Yup, two flattering posts from first time members within 2 days gives the game away, especially after so many poors comments left before. In other words I smell a big fat RAT

Despite other reviews I found this place fine. Landlord was friendly, beer was OK. We didn't eat though.

In a word. VILE. Whilst on holiday, my mum and I decided to have some lunch in Watchet. We looked at the outside menu and unfortunately we thought we might get a nice meal here. We walked in and ordered at the bar with grave reservation. The landlord was unpleasant and we had to pay for the food upfront without seeing the restaurant (were we expecting a "nice view of the harbour"). The restaurant however, was in my mother's words "Indescribably Vile". After being shown upstairs to the restaurant by a very rude and surly waitress, it was all we could not to turn around and walk straight back out again. However because we had already paid we decided to risk it. Mistake number 2. Our starter to share was a seafood platter that was a mess of poor quality frozen crap. My lamb shank was the worst piece of meat I have allowed myself to eat. My mum is so distressed from the experience of this disgusting excuse for a restaurant that she cannot even conjur up the memory of what she had to eat. Need i say more.........?

leave a wide berth this is a no no beer off and when questioned was told it's how it should be............................

I must say to begin with these reviews must be done by other pubs in the Watchet as The London Inn is by far the best pub in the area. I visit Watchet once a week to see one of my friends and we always and up in the London for a nice traditional pub meal (which is amazing!!) or just a tipple. The owners are great sue is such a fantastic woman and john is a friendly welcoming man. so those other "reviews" are bull. thanks john and sue for providing a fabulous experience everytime. 10 out of 10.

"I knew they'd want real ale" was the greeting by the Landlord as he turned the second of two pump clips away from the punters. We persevered and came back another day, having an indifferent half of overpriced Young's Bitter. The landlord was more interested in "Cash in the Attic". A lesson in how the traditional English pub is being destroyed.
|
DO NOT be taken in by the appealing photo. There are many good boozers in the area
|
don't bother

It is a long time since I had to ask for my money back but the arrogant and offensive landlord offered when I asked "Are you happy to serve that?". The beer was undrinkable and my friend felt obliged to leave her lager. Apparently there is a good view of the harbour from the restaurant - I did not get that far
