A large pub set in the middle of the town.
Yes, its expensive but looking at the numbers of people in the place they seem to be able to charge a significant amount extra for beer but know that people will obviously pay it.
Seating outside at the front of the building with at least two bar areas and several rooms given over to drinking and tables for eating inside, which includes a restaurant room. Also provides accommodation. A busy pub with welcoming staff.

Called here for a swift pint and nearly choked when I received £1.05 change out of a fiver for a pint of Thatcher's Gold. I think £3.95 a pint is extracting mickey! Not again Totnes, get a JD Wetherspoons quick!

This is a very big bar/ eatery /hotel /events venue. Comedy every other month. It's hundreds of years old. Great location, can watch the world go by from an excellent vantage point with outside heating and seating. Wide range of ales, ciders, lagers. It is not cheap, but then the supermarket is nearby if you want cheap (and a choice of bus shelters to drink in).
Over the old river bridge is the Albert Inn - very old, quirky, real pub !!

We called in here on 5-8-14 but came out without buying a drink, checked the cask ale prices which you need a magnifying glass to read £ 3.85 a pint the most expensive ale I've ever seen, little wonder pubs are closing with greed like this

A well positioned place right in the centre of totnes. Sitting outside is great if you can get a seat and don't mind people smoking near to you. Was'nt that impressed with inside to be honest and it is an expensive place for a pin.t All in all 8/10

Something for everyone here as the bar areas span wine bar to pub lounge bar. We sat outside having drinks and some good quality sandwiches whilst watching the world go by. Friendly staff, good selection of beers - would definitely return.

3.30 for a pint of Doom Bar? YOU ARE HAVING A LAUGH! Go to the William IV up the road instead.
|
Seems popular any time of the day or night, and as previously said the tables out front are a good place to watch the comings and goings on the high street. A few decent real ales as well.

This is a great place for people watching while enjoying a decent pint. All life is here! An enjoyable place to spend an hour or two, food is'nt too bad either.

The Royal Seven Stars Hotel is a charming 18 bedroom old world 17th-century former coaching inn, which sits in a commanding position overlooking the main roundabout in Totnes town center, near the banks of the River Dart. The former courtyard, now decorated with antiques, paintings, and the hotel's own heraldic shield, forms an inviting entrance to the pub. There are two main bars, one either side of the courtyard, and then a posh nosh gastro restaurant at the back, which I imagine is primarily utilised by hotel guests. The right hand bar is more in the style of a wine bar and seems to focus more on wines and cocktails. Whereas the left hand bar is the more traditional welcoming pub lounge bar having a central bar area, a large fireplace to one side and seating all round. More traditional pub food menu available in this bar and the couple of times we utilised this the meals were very good. Four handpumps providing Dartmoor Jail Ale, Bays Gold, Courage Best and Sharps Doombar. First time for me for the Bays Beers and I thought the Bays Gold was an excellent pint. And finally, there is a very comfortable outside seating area underneath large white Jumbrellas and lined with planted troughs which gives you some isolation from the road traffic, which as mentioned by Paris below is an excellent spot to sit and watch the world and his wife go by.

Just had a very refreshing pint of Bays Gold whilst sitting out the front watching the world go by.
Typical town centre hotel catering for the lunching shoppers and holidaymakers. Four real Ales available: today it is Bays Gold, Jail Ale, London Pride and another I can't remember.
