Joiners Arms, Gowerback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
After trying the Valley across the road (not listed on here), we moved onto the Joiners Arms to sample the ales from the Swansea brewery. Similar to the Valley, the Joiners Arms has a proper village pub feel and stocked a decent range of ales - Caledonian Autumn Red, Swansea Bishopwood Bitter, Three Cliffs Gold & The Original Wood, Marstons Pedigree, Brains No. 8 & Courage Best. No real cider is dispensed. For that head over to the Valley. The Joiners has a couple of rooms. You can access the bar and the gents from both. Both had TVs , with one room showing Premier League football and the other showing World Cup rugby. The front bar has a spiral staircase right in the middle. There is a small seated area at the front and possibly another at the rear. The Joiners was pub of the day.

A popular local serving seven beers, three from its own brewery. The Three Cliffs Gold at 4.7% is a hoppy ale with a strong malty finish. The pub is not the poshest of venues bugloss nothing for that. Better a pub that is clean tidy and serves good beer a reasonable prices then somewhere where a pint of GK costs £4. Recommended.

Dingy smelly and uncomfortable establishment; surly girl served me; unsavoury customers fartingg and belching. own brew not great, winey and staleish.
Outside, horrible view of cars.

Very good boozer and the 3 SBC beers that I tried were all excellent.- particularly the "Three Cliffs". Food was also of a very good standard, and loads of it.
Just one gripe, also. I also tried a pint of Breconshire Gower's Well which was, in my view, "not ready" (a subjective thing I know) but when I tried to draw this to the attention of the barman he batted me away with a "it's fresh on!".
Given it a 7 but without the little misunderstanding would have probably marked it 9 - would hope to return when next in the area

I grew up in the village. The Joiners gets a 10 out of 10 for being a great village local.
The onsite brewed beers are just superb.
My only little gripe is you get far too much chips with your food; they need to knock back on the portion size. However I'm not going to knock any score off!

A great little pub. Nice old furniture, they brew their own beers and the food is excellent. I had one of the nicest meals I have ever eaten there recently - the cajun burger

A pleasant and friendly village pub in Gower. It sits in the heart of Bishopston right opposite another pub, so that drinkers sitting outside can chat with the drinkers sitting outside the other pub. Does meals, but not during the afternoon. The main draw is that the pub brews their own beers as the Swansea Brewing Company, and three of their beers are always available, along with three others - Pedigree, Archers and Courage Best on my visit. The beer garden is the edge of the car park, and there isn't that much of a view, but it's a decent enough place. Score 8.
