£7.00 FOR A PINT AND A HALF!
I was expecting Newquay to be a little cheaper especially in mid November in on a weekday but what did I really expect from the evils of anSt. Austell brewery owned pub.
To be fair to them this place has been done up swanky from the Central pub of old and I guess Newquay is trying to clean up it's act as the stag weekend capital of Europe.
Just not for me.
3/10

The current layout of the pub with a mezzanine bar and all open plan bears no relation to the Central of old and is what it is......a large pub modernised to an inch of its life catering for a young crowd in a seaside town well known for stag and hen weekends. Beer was expensive...what do you expect...but in good condition.
It does what it does well.

Was it really £6 for a pint of korev and half a rattler. Nasty clientelle. Avoid.

I always like The Central... Yes it has a modern feel inside, but the St.Austell ales are well kept and there are plenty of tables out on the front to enjoy the summer. Nice place for a coffee to in a morning...

bit pricey but good place to start your night in newquay

The st austell beers were well kept and was a good place to watch the live football, very modern decor with no real pub atmosphere though.

We visited during late April, the Tribute and Proper Job were both well served. Unfortunately, the champions league games then started and dispite the pub being empty it was impossible to talk to each other due to the noise. I could fully understnad this is in the summer when it is busy but with a handful of people in the pub it seems a bit excessive.

OK replacement for dining, as the Fort Inn was overcrowded. Had outside seatings with el.heaters for those who preferred "fresh" air.

i love this place!!! , i have just spent the new year down there and have to say it was the best new years i had , the musics great , i know the drinks can sometimes be a bit pricey but you have to expect them to go up slightly on that particular night. the atmosphere was awesome and everyone is so friendly , can't wait to go back down in may for rtts!!!!

Spent most of New Year here. Great pub, good atmosphere and really friendly staff. Hi to Jasmin from the Bristol boys.

A very nice pub, especially in the non-tourist time. It can be very crowded on weekends, which is good or bad depending on your tastes. They are well stocked with imports and reasonably priced real local ales. The staff is attentive, and either generally witty, extremely (one might say amazingly) attractive, or both. A good place to sit for a night, an absolute must for a crawl through Newquay.

One of my favourite places in Newquay although on a Sat night 'rammed' isn't the word! Text message screens very amusing...also gay dance floor!?

As by the name, this place is in the centre of Town making it easy to access. On a hot day, the air con is a godsend. This added to the great food, great beer and wonderful service, this place is one of my favorites in the UK.

This place is diabolical. It has large text message screens around the whole pub to which customers can send any message they like. When I was in there two extremely offensive, racist comments were sent to the screens. I was told by someone at the bar that the DJ was reponsible for the messages. When I asked the DJ to remove the messages he said there was nothing he could do about it. DISGUSTING.

Quality boozer- good range of drinks and it's massive. Watched England in there over the summer and the atmosphere was second to none, even after the Portugal game.

Not bad, but a bit 'mincey bar' for my liking. Good food though, more ythe sort of place that i'd pass thorough, but almost certainly not stay at.

Slap bang in the midst of the happening end of town. Central is a funky pub with a large dance floor and excellent music on a Saturday night. The bar is a good size downstairs, not too long to have to wait to be served, and if your feeling up for it, there is a cocktail bar upstairs, where you can look down on all the peeps. There is a large seating area right outside the pub with patio heaters to the ready for the chilly evenings. Toilets upstairs and down, no queues as such, and clean! hurrah! There's a pool table down the far end, and they also serve tucker in the day. I like this pub!

Great location with a forecourt to watch the tattooed world go by. Great starting off point with good house music to get everyone going. There’s a small cocktail bar upstairs too, and it certainly gets you in the mood.
People with a worrying tart/ slag obsession (most of the people who visit this site, but not me, oh no) wouldn’t go wrong drinking at the Central, or anywhere else in Newquay for that matter. During the Mayday bank holiday, there were gangs of intimidating hen nights on the rampage, including a regiment of paralytic Scousers who were selling snogs. One of them had scrawled ‘I take it up the ARSE’ in biro on the back of her cheerleader shirt - I believed her. Too scared to ask though.
