Fitzwilliam Arms, Peterboroughback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
I've popped in to this pub on and off for the last 15 years or so, and have never been given the incentive to do so more than once or twice a year, even when my (ex) fiance lived at the end of the road! I had a horrible experience there Sept 2011. My friends and I have cycling pub tours in the summer & The Fitz Arms is on the route. We were hungry and a friend suggested we eat there, I was at the bar waiting to be served and commented that the food was not that great - my exact words were 'bog standard'. The landlord heard me, and refused to serve me. He then instructed his staff to serve me last! I was glared at, insulted and so, not only is the food bog standard but the service is appalling. I will not even be stopping off there for a pint in future.

Like everyone else says, it was just ok. Food was a disappointment. Very few vegetarian dishes on an otherwise large and varied menu. Food didn't live up to gastro-pubby embellished description as came out in about three seconds flat and had a very microwaved sauce out of a bag look and taste. Because of this, it was expensive for what it was.
On the upside, manager very friendly and it was pleasant enough sitting out in the sun. Might stop off for another drink but wouldn't eat there again.

Oh dear. Made to wait for 10 minutes before being served a drink at the bar. Barmaid rude. Could not run a tab despite there being eight of us. Bar staff threw empty bottles in a bin behind the bar making a very loud and disruptive noise evry time they passed. Made to wait another 10 minutes when we had the audacity to want another round of drinks.
Please note: this is not a pub, it is a 'everything with chips' restaurant. They do not want or welcome drinkers, they want you to take a number, sit at a table, order your xxxx and chips and wait for the staff to get around to serving you. the only positive thing I can think of reporting is that the drinks themselves were fine.
Will not be returning, very sad, could be a lovely pub, try the White Hart at Ufford 5 minutes away.

we have eaten frequently at fitzwilliam arms over last few years and recommended it frequently but over the last six months we have noticed especially on sunday evenings when trying to order food it has not been available. We ate there yesterday evening roast dinners were advertised on special board but again none available why had this not been erased also no rump steaks no horseradish sauce even We are now considering eating elsewhere as this seems to be a regular accurence .I felt it important for you to be aware,as we have never had reason to complain. i would like to hear your commments on this

The Fitzwilliam is actually part of the M&B Vintage Inn chain. Some Vintage Inns can be very good, others can be dreadful. This one falls somewhere between the two.
Bombardier and GK-IPA were available on the hand pumps when I visited. The Bombardier was just a tad below par, but quite drinkable. Similarly the food was OK, but nothing special. The staff were friendly and efficient but seemed to be programmed so I agree with the previous reviewer about the contrived atmosphere. In some ways, I found that this atmosphere is uncomfortable.
The Fitzwilliam is a very attractive thatched pub in a pleasant village within very easy reach of Peterborough city centre. Given the right conditions it has ENORMOUS potential, but whilst M&B are the puppet masters, it will sadly remain just an average pub that serves average beer and average food

The Green Man, as the pub is known locally, could be a great village pub. Unfortunately it isn't - always seems a bit contrived to me. All very inoffensive - food ok, beer ok, but nothing to write home about,
