The Five Horseshoes, Barholm

A real pub, uncorrupted by technology and b***s**t. No music, no food (that I was aware of) just good beer and friendly locals. Ideal place to enjoy a pint and a newspaper. Almost reluctant to recommend it because crowds would spoil it. Enjoy it while you can, there aren't many of these places left.

The Fitzwilliam Arms, Peterborough

Oh dear. Made to wait for 10 minutes before being served a drink at the bar. Barmaid rude. Could not run a tab despite there being eight of us. Bar staff threw empty bottles in a bin behind the bar making a very loud and disruptive noise evry time they passed. Made to wait another 10 minutes when we had the audacity to want another round of drinks.

Please note: this is not a pub, it is a 'everything with chips' restaurant. They do not want or welcome drinkers, they want you to take a number, sit at a table, order your xxxx and chips and wait for the staff to get around to serving you. the only positive thing I can think of reporting is that the drinks themselves were fine.

Will not be returning, very sad, could be a lovely pub, try the White Hart at Ufford 5 minutes away.
