Anyone care to comment on the beer & food as they are in 2015? I haven't the energy to walk down & then back up the hill to find out for myself! By the way, the pub is alongside both the river AND the canal, isn't it?
|
Yes it's a chain pub. So? It doesn't automatically mean it's crap. As it happens, I quite like it. The beer's OK, if mainstream. The food might be pub grub standard but I can live with that. If I occasionally want something out of the ordinary I'll go up the hill to the Old Orchard and (willingly) pay through the nose. For a beer break or lunch stop on a canal trip, this place is just fine

Great location but pub looking tired, menu uninspiring and beer not well kept. Could be so much better.

It's a canal, not a river, and the building has been here almost as long, but never mind. Delightful, warm and inviting, well-kept beer.

Sits by the river, spoiling a good view! Staff surly, food awful go anywhere else but here!

Awful. Watch the greese splat from the outbuilding as you drive over bridge. YUK

Typical plastic chain pub. Annoyingly great location taken over by yet another charcterless pub chain. Awful menu, poor beer, no atmosphere but dies well without bothering to try hard simply because of the location. Best thing abotu this place is the ducks outside especialyl the fat white one who is quite the character and I go to feed him and avoid th epub now!
