Red Lion Hotel, Llanidloesback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
I entered here as a large group of girls all dressed in black t-shirts and shorts were exiting. Either they were all called Jones or this was a hen party. Unsurprisingly this was the busiest pub in Llanidloes and all of the remaining customers were blokes. This is an old coaching inn and you can drink in the courtyard at the rear. Two ales from Monty's were on - Sunshine & Mischief. One of the better pubs in town.

The worst restaurant I've ever been in. Stayed here for three nights, the hotel has been redo curated and is ok, but a little noisy with the bar directly below. As for the restuarant, I would never recommend it to anyone. First night, ordered food then waited 1 hour then were shown into the EMPTY restaurant and asked what we wanted to eat! Second night, exactly the same except we were served our food and then told one of the items was not available. Then given frozen (literally) potatoes. The restuarant was practically empty. Third we all ordered lasagne and then an our later were told there was none available. If it had been my choice we would not have gone back after the first night. AVOID.

Comfortable, tidy pub. Tim Taylor, Reverend James and Betty Stoggs. Only ruined by the presence of the local twentysomething arseholes!

Bit spit and sawdust but good lunchtime pub. Always various real ales on and good bar eals. Probably wouldn't want to stay over night but overall a nice pub. Landlord and landlady very welcoming

DREADFUL. No other way to describe it really. Piss poor beer, piss poor food, piss poor service. Used to be one of the best pubs in Lani, how times change.

A very tired pub in desperate need of a refurb. The bedrooms were poor and the place is noisy. 4 real ales, 2 of which were not good, large open bars but no real attempt to be welcoming.

Were staying here and probably fortunate to have a room on the top floor so not disturbed by 2am bar noise. Drank Taylors Landlord throughout weekend stay as I wasn't keen on the Holden or Ruddles alternatives. Two bars one with large red leather sofas gets packed quickly but space usually available in other bar with pool table. This, like other local pubs is on the youngsters weekend pub crawl circuit so can fill up and empty quite quickly. I arrived early one evening to find lounge bar packed so went into other bar, by the time my friends arrived it had emptied and as a result they thought I had moved elsewhere!! Found evening menu a bit mixed and not a match for the excellent breakfasts. This appears to be the only pub in town that serves food on a Sunday evening
Other pubs visited in Llanidloes (I've given up trying to get new pubs listed) Crown & Anchor: see entry Mount: no ale despite Worthington and Bass handpumps. Scary reverend and his blues band played whilst we propped up a Formica table Kings Head: were looking for food Sunday evening so didnt stop, looked ok though Elephant: served Brains but pint a bit off. Decor very dark green and wood Karaoke til 2am or later Queens Head: no ale didnt stay Angel: friendly locals bar away from the youngsters pub crawl circuit. Good pint of Everards Tiger plus also Thwaites and Greene King. Pub has two rooms, again mostly only one used with route to loos splitting the bar in two. Recommended
