Called in prior to a visit to see the pantomime in the theatre next door. Very busy to say the least. One down side was the visit to the toilets. Is it common practice for two men to use the "sit down" cubicles at the same time? It was suggested that afterwards that they go in there testing white powder!

Otter Ale was ok, but the lack of running water in the toilets was a concern, as was the scruffy appearance of the kitchen staff serving food!

Beer festival starts on 1st oct with a fairly interesting list. pedestrian choice usally of only a couple of Beers , but I have to say on both occasions my 6x and tribute were in good nick.

Due to have a major refurb before Summer '12 - it has it's charms and the staff are always friendly and up for a chat. As long as it doesn't loose some of it's charms after being refurbished I will still continue to love and enjoy this pub.

Large pub right on the city centre next to the Hippodrome. It could and should be a prime spot, but successive owners seem to have failed to capitalise on it. I cant comment too much as when trying to get a drink at 10:45 I was told that they were no longer serving. I looked surprised and checked my watch to be told they closed at 11:00, so promptly left. From memory the place was a bit of a dump anyway and doesnt look to have changed much. I just wanted a swift half while waiting for my bus.
