There has been yet another refurbishment and is now renamed as the Tithe. Mainly a repaint and new pictures and a few more soft furnishings but its still noisy when busy. Range of changing real ales good but were recently served an end of cask beer which the barman knew was running out and he still didn't take the beer off. There is more competition for beer and food in Northallerton now with the Stumble Inn micro pub and a new Marston's outlet on the North side of town.

The Tithe Bar was refurbished last summer. Unfortunately needs more soft furnishings as noise is overpowering when it is busy and it can be cold in the winter. However the range of ever changing beers is excellent and have always been on good form on recent visits. By far the best place for real ales in Northallerton. A great pity that all the beer pictures, beer mats etc have been removed during the redecorations

Good selection of real ale - I had the Wensleydale 3.8% and it was absolutely delicious - could not stay for any more though - recommended.

Decent enough place. Stopped for lunch on a cycle tour. Beer (York Guzzler) wasn't very good - not bad enough to complain about, and they changed the cask soon after, so probably we were just unlucky to get the last couple of pints. Would visit again if passing.

A 'do not miss' when in Northallerton. Probably the best weizen I've ever had (Dr Morton's Milk of Amnesia) - truly memorable ;-). Knowledgable staff and 6 real ales plus a good selection of continentals / bottles. Games available.

The best place in Northallerton for well kept real ale. Went in yesterday for a few swift halves before getting a train. A good variety of ales from local and regional breweries plus a few from further afield. Always worth a visit when in town.

Modern Belgian-style bar decked out in bare wood with a restaurant upstairs - the Hop Bine Brasserie.
There's a selection of real ales on handpump all from local breweries and microbreweries, and all are clearly listed on a chalkboard above the bar to obviate squinting at the pumpclips. The three I tried were all in fine condition.
The customers - a variety of young and old, men and women - were obviously enjoying the experience of using this place, and appreciating the quiet relaxing ambience.
A reliable place for ale. (...and dare I say - a fine plate of sausages and mash with superb onion gravy.)
