The main pub building was closed yesterday apparently due to the absence of a chef but they now have the barn-like "Potting Shed" in the beer garden which was open for drinks and cheeseboards. Both Hook Norton clips were turned around but my pint of Shagweaver from North Cotswold Brewery was possibly the best I've had from that brewery.

Echo the last review.
Rambling farm house - food looked excellent.
Great beer garden.
North Cotswold Shagweaver is fast becoming my favourite pint.

We walked here having found the Crown shut down and we were very glad we did! Very friendly, busy place with what looked like good food and superb beers. We had "Shagweaver" from the North Cotswold Brewery - absolutely gorgeous!

Cycled from Southam for our first visit to The Folly. Checked their website before setting off and saw that they served food until 2:30pm. Arrived at 1:45pm but was told that it was too late to order food because they'd just taken 2 big orders and the chef was leaving at 2pm. So, no food and a spoiled day. Don't think we'll bother going back. Beer was an OK pint of Hook Norton Haymaker. Only HN beers in left hand bar, didn't see any guests.

Great little find, tucked away on the canal and hidden from view. Found it on an arduous cycle ride and got stuck into the Old Rosie cider....needless to say I wobbled most of the way back to Stockton!

Lovely spot down by the canal, the Pacific beer was really good and the old Rosie also. Would definitely go here again if camping near by

June 2013. Visited the Folly whilst on a weekend's narrow boat holiday down the Oxford Canal. Arrived too late for food (their kitchen closes at 9pm), although what was on others plates looked delicious. The staff were great, they gave us the number of a chinese restaurant that would deliver to the pub. They cleared a table for us and supplied plates and cutlery too. Couldn't have been more helpful. Pub itself is characterful (as is the landlord), great location and not overly busy for a weekend. Nice beer garden, right by the canal. Would happily go again when next in the area. Hooky on tap was good.

Dec. 2012 prepared for Christmas. Still open with log fire and real Ales, good food, and bad jokes. Great!

We visited the Folly Inn at lunchtime on Thursday 9th August. A delightful pub situated on the Grand Union Canal with pretty grounds, a campsite and holiday lets. The pub itself is very quaint but I would imagine gets very busy at weekends. When we visited it was very quiet and a nice sunny day. The landlord is very pleasant and dresses quite appropriatly for he pub. I'll let you find out yourself. The barmaid was also very friendly and welcoming. Although we did not eat the menu appeared reasonable and the house specialities are their home made pies which did look very apetising. Around this area there are a lot of pubs on the canal but this is one of the best for surroundings and comfort.

With holiday homes attached and vast car park we wondered whether this was a good choice after a long canalside walk. But the interior maintains a nice and comfortable pubby atmosphere. The beer (Hooky) was in good condition.

Had drinks there over a few days, beers were always good. All of the staff were friendly and attentative. Ate there with friends on Saturday night, all excellent.

I went to the Folly at the weekend and had a sunday roast after a walk in Lower Shuckburgh - it was fabulous, along with a nice pud, good price and well kept real ales. I arrived at 3 and left quite a few hours later than planned..! (the DIY jobs can wait a while!)

Visited this pub which is very close to the canal side last Sunday evening when we moored up nearby. Run by a young team who were pleasant & friendly. Dog welcomed inside. Interesting building that has some holiday cottages in the grounds. Big log fire in one of the two bars. Had a couple of excellent pints of Hook Norton 303 - didn't eat there.
