Been to Chipping Campden many times but always missed this gem of a pub.....
The Good Beer Guide told me all about it.
Classic Cotswold Building - originally C14th - honey stoned, low ceilings, complete with a sign on the door warning you.
To the left a posh restaurant - to the right, a bar - less formal but setup for dining.
Coal Fire.
Outside Courtyard.
Four real ales on - and the Old Hooky was in superb condition.
I've been quite underwhelmed with the other pubs in town. This redresses the balance.

There was a range of excellent ale when we called for lunch today. The HPA and Hooky were both in top form.
The food is also excellent and with proper table service. Quite a lot of the pub is given over to eating, but it remains a pub rather than a restaurant to its credit.
The clientele feature a fair representation from the ex-public-school-military-farming sector perhaps, which is only to be expected in this part of the world. So come and behold the British Establishment with its pint.
The staff are polite and efficient, so I'd say that this inn is easily worth eight out of ten.

Great pub, the best in Chipping Campden by a long way. It was the only one really busy last weekend and the only one selling a decent range of traditional beers. It's not rocket science. The emptiest pubs were the ones selling very very ordinary beer. Excellent food, staff and atmosphere.

Busy pub on a Friday night with customers eating. Food was good with an interesting menu. Booking required for busy times. 4 beers on including Hooky Bitter and the best was Wye Valley HPA. Only a short stagger from the interesting Landmark Trust Banqueting House where we stayed.

Very nice roof terrace if the sun is out.

Fine pub in an area that tends to have too much reliance on tourists. The service from the staff couldn't be faulted - attentive without being pushy, and the food was good quality, if overpriced. The beer was well kept; the decor and furnishings comfortable.

By far the best pub in Chipping Campden (and I've spent today testing each one) - not saying much as the rest are piss-poor rip-off tourist joints (I've spent today testing every one, remember - how bloody depressing..)
However, to be clear, this isn't the least worst of a bad bunch - it's a genuinely impressive pub that keeps 4+ real ales extremely well; 3 from within 30 miles and every single one served very well and at around 3 a pint max - Mad Goose being the perectly kept pick.
I've eaten here a few times with my family and guests and it's always been beautiful - though expensive - food; It's also a dog friendly pub in the proper country sense so it stands a chance of overhauling the Bakers Arms.Which is a better pub, but bizarrely imagines that in the Cotswolds, it alone should be able to banish the constant companion (dog) of most of us natives, to the garden

This is definitely primarily a pub for good food (tables need to be reserved) and the food is good but quite expensive. On my visit, the bar had 4 real ales, 1 cider and 1 perry on handpump, which was good to see and taste! In the evening there is only a small amount of room around the bar for drinking as the rest of the pub is taken up with tables for dining. Having said that, this is probably one of the better pubs in Chipping Campden for good quality real ales.

I VISITED THE PUB MID AFTERNOON AND IT WAS QUIET, BUT I WOULD GUESS IT GETS BUSY IN THE EVENING. FOUR CASK ALES ON PUMP , IHAD THE GOFFS AND THE PURITY , BOTH OF WHICH WERE GOOD. ALTHOUGH MORE AN EATING HOUSE THAN A PUB, IT IS WORTH A VISIT.

Much more of a Restaurant than a pub. The Staff are friendlyand welcoming and a good selection of ales are kept well. A good pint of Hook Norton was supped. It felt a little crowded with the dining tables coming right up to the bar.?
The restaurant is popular ,but If you want to drink at the bar forget it? You will literally be standing between dining tables if there is more than 3 of you. There is a small covered patio and some garden seating. Dont know where you would drink if it rained?

A surprise find just off the high street. This is predominately a foody pub and there wasn't anywhere for drinkers to sit inside on Saturday lunch time. There is a nice little covered patio area outside plus terraced seating. There are five handpulls including a cider (Old Rosie) and a Perry. I drank the magnificent Purity Pure Gold, Goff's Jouster and Hook Norton were also available.
