Nelson Inn, Ludlowback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
I wasn't as impressed as others have been when I visited - yes, the Hobson's beer was good, real cider was being served from boxes and the welcoming landlord may or may not be slightly eccentric (he was nursing a wine hangover when we visited) but, as the previous reviewer beautifully described it, the lounge bar resembles more of a grubby junk shop than being plain characterful and it all needs one heck of a spruce up (I know a lot of pubs do but this one is top of the list). That might be the attraction to some but not for me, sorry! The pub has been for sale for several months now.

If the Addams Family and the Steptoes went into the pub business together, this would surely be the result. Although the barstaff and locals were very friendly, couldn't help noticing none of them cast a reflection. And who was the silent guy sitting motionless in the lumber room that serves as the lounge? Most importantly, however, the beer was excellent and, despite the Gothic surroundings, perfectly unchilled.

agree with the previous comments, simply superb!

One of the best and most charismatic pubs I have ever visited. An ever changing variety of ales which are always in top condition. Good pool table and a jukebox with an excellent selection of classic rock. Charismatic and friendly staff and locals alike. Love this place and cannot recommend it enough.

Serious, and pretty eccentric, beer pub with very complicated opening hours. Phone to check before you go.

A classic pub with great real ales, and a great jukebox too. Good food as well, well worth a visit.

I suspect no reviews have been posted because both the many locals who "DRINK" here and the landlord want to keep it a secret.
