Sheps pub with an old fashioned charm, ie basic but wholesome. Not a fan of the landlord or the beer.

This boozer defies the laws of economics by being one of the emptiest pubs in town, except on a Sunday afternoon when it has music and the locals etc like to gather for a bit of social. At that moment it can be heaving. One winter's evening I walked past and saw only a dog looking forlornly out of the window, poor thing. I couldn't even see anyone behind the bar. Maybe the dog had a job there and was hoping for a customer. But the pub looked uninviting because it has big bare windows which make it seem austere and cold, rather than warm and cosy. And I've never found the beer or lager particularly inspiring in there.

When we visited broadstairs a few days ago there was a very limited selection of SN beers available at Neptune's Hall - Masterbrew or Spitfire. The spitfire (which is normally a very enjoyable ale) had obviously been in cask too long and was not good. The masterbrew was reasonable but was well below the standard expected of a SN pub. The pub was virtually empty (which most likely explains the dreadful beer in terms of lack of turnover) apart from four very youthful drinkers and 3 cronies of the landlord who were sat with him at the bar. Neither the pub nor the landlord were very welcoming in spite of the lack of customers.
This was in sharp contrast to the Wrotham Arms where the beer was excellent and the staff were both friendly and welcoming.
I would not recommend this pub.

A friendly pub with very nice barstaff. A little disappointed that for a Shep Neame pub in the Good Beer Guide there was only Masterbrew and Spitfire available. This despite several handpumps. Otherwise a good place to drink.

I'm partial to SN beers and the best pint in Broadstairs is here. It's a pub. Staff are friendly and locals too if you stay for a second.

A very good pub! Centrally placed in the town I try to visit a few times each summer. Always seems to be lively and friendly. Not the biggest Shepherd Neame fan but I make an exception here!

The best pub in Broadstairs always great beer and many a happy night spent in there

GOOD BEER (if you don't mind Shep's), GOOD CROWD, FRIENDLY STAFF.......(nowt else t'say!)

Best bet for real ale in Broadstairs. Unlike Margate and Ramsgate, the place has some pretensions of being a traditional "bucket & spade" seaside resort and is worth a day-trip if you are into that sort of thing. Beware -in winter they may not open at lunchtime.

Visited this pub during folk week. Very friendly and traditional.

Sherpherd Neame in the centre of town. Really friendly old fashioned pub, stocks the whole Shep Neame range of ales. Worth coming to if you don't mind Shepherd Neame.
