Now a Michelin Bib restaurant known as the Queen of Cups although I think that drinkers are probably still welcome given the size and laid-back atmosphere of the place. I had a pint of Exmoor Wicked Wolf which was fine but I was so blown away by the Middle Eastern cuisine that my beer was irrelevant.

Still sells Wilkins cider.

Still sells Wilkins cider, and the opening hours now seem to match those advertised outside.

I have just been here again, and I feel it only fair to say that prince Valium is a new man! He seemed as though transformed into an excellent and attentive barman. Love the more mature bar woman here, god knows what they would do without her. I have to say I found the younger girl a bit stroppy and unhelpful. Sorry, and sorry for not particularly reviewing the beer, the service means a lot to me.

Found it open at last! It does indeed sell Wilkins local cider.
I liked the elderly armchairs and sofas.

I've been told that the Hawthornes now stocks Wilkins cider. However, my efforts to take advantage of this have been thwarted so far as it's opening hours do not match those displayed on the chalkboard outside the door. Tonight (halloween) it was advertising a special event with "food from 6pm" but was still closed when I gave up at 6:35pm.

I quite like the weird hotch potch of blues musicians here every Sunday, and the free hot roast potatoes are amazing, but the young barman does tend to remind me of a snail on Valium. You virtually have to snap your fingers in his face every few seconds to remind him that he is not only alive but it is also his job to serve people drinks!

Yes, the food was good, but it's not really a drinking pub. The Open Mic night was ok (just like most other Open Mic nights in other pubs).
|
I have to say that on two recent visits to Glastonbury, this place was closed both times.

Perhaps time to put the record straight. I was taken here recently by a group of friends for lunch. Got a bit worried after reading the other reviews, but I have to say the curry buffet was excellent. Yes, there is no regular draught beer, but we found a very suitable (liquid) accompaniment to our meal. Maybe we need to remember that this is the 'beer in the evening' website, and this is not really a pub, but I certainly have no complaints, and will certainly revisit.

A pointless visit. No one serving.

You're a brave man.

Have eaten here twice now. The food I have enjoyed both times, but the second time we visited the service was poor. Slow service for main course and we had to ask the three teenage waitresses at the bar why they had not offered dessert 15 mins after clearing the main. The place was not busy.
Need more focus front of house. Would eat here again though.

Well, OK, I'll be straight about why I gave this a big 0. I went there with my wife and an old friend (You will appreciate these are two different people, or should I say, one of each?). I had a beef curry, as did my old pal, but my wife had the chicken curry. My wife had an upset tum for a day or so, but both my pal and I were laid low with food poisoning for several days. I had not meant to mention this on here, but perhaps I have a duty to do so. Judge for yourselves, eh?

I stayed at this hotel in June as my wife and I were on holiday and needed somewhere to stay before and after going to the festival. The staff were terrific, they saw to our every need and no job was enough - they even held on to the belongings that we did not need to carry with us while we were at Worthy Farm. We ate at the restaurant once and had a very nice curry, admittedly the beer was bottled but we had no complaints about the choice or quality. This review does consider both the hotel and restaurant and not just the bar, but this is a great place to stay and have a curry and bottle of badger before hitting the high st.

Been there. Won't return.
