Queen Charlotte, Ramsgateback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
We were here on a Friday night recently. We always pop in when we're in Ramsgate and it's a nice atmosphere if it's heavily London ex-pat. Beers are good. My main gripe is that one of the women serving completely ignored me for about five mins to the point where I said, "Excuse me, I..." and she just walked past me to serve a bearded regular. The other barmaid, who'd been away from the bar, appeared and asked me if I wanted serving to which my reply was: "Er, ye-eah!" We're probably going to move to Ramsgate and if we do I'll grow a beard and maybe this won't happen again.

When beers are on, they are very good. The landlord shows enough humility to ask advice of those he knows have a decent degree of knowledge of ale. The landlord and landlady are both very welcoming - though at times there are staff serving at the bar who are best described as chocolate teapots: they are unable to multi-task and serve drinks at such a ponderous pace as to annoy. The clientele is definitely different from other Ramsgate pubs. They're better washed than Belgian bar customers, but still have a whiff of the Guardian about them. Still, you can't have everything.

The Queen Charlotte is now a lovely boozer with plenty of regulars, charm and character. It's been tastefully retro-renovated. The night I was in was "knitting night" which meant a table or two full of ladies - always a good thing in a pub. All the music was on vinyl and I'm told an 80+ year-old DJ spins some 78s on a Thursday night. I feel for the previous reviewer who couldn't get served as I found the landlady very hospitable, as were the regulars. Served a nice pint of Hophead, but also had a couple of Gadd's (Seasider and a.n.other). An absolute must for any visitor to the area.

The Queen Charlotte has closed since the last review, and has subsequently been bought by some cove from London. After being closed for some months and having been altered and retro-renovated internally, it now resembles a real pub once more, with real ale and a selection of bottled ales.
It was busy on my visit, but there was plenty of space at the bar, and two barmaids - only one of which was serving at the time. I was either wearing a cloak of invisibility, or the only people who are welcome in the Queen Charlotte are members of the landlord and barmaids cabal!
Having been totally ignored for several minutes and incandescent with rage, I immediately repaired to a far more welcoming hostelry within lurching distance, and slaked my thirst accordingly.
No ales consumed and no service in any way, shape or form. Nul points!

hi all, i am taking over the pub from end of october and will be giving it a real good overhaul and i will be doing my best to get this pub on the map. i will be doing a lunch tim menu from 12 til 5 with a set menu of six meals in which you get a free drink included in the price, also i will be bringing back the real ale with three guest ales as well as selling quality other drinks. the man in charge of the ales will be a camra member and he is also given the task of beer tester when he is at camra festivals so you should know the beer will be A1. we will be having a quiz night once a week as well as building up a darts and football team to challenge for honours next year, please give us a try if you are in the area and im sure you will be suprised at the pleasent change!

Addington street used to have five pubs, but one got bombed out in the war. Another one has just reopened, the "Falstaff", after the previous tenants went bust after trying very hard and getting sob-stories in the local paper about losing their life savings. This used to be a street of small, old-fashioned shops desperately trying to be "up-market", but the leases all fell in and now the street is absolutely dead. Perhaps the only reason this pub is still open is because it wouldn't be worth much as anything else. Worth a visit for charity's sake -small basic local boozers are an endangered breed even in run-down towns like Ramsgate

Not for me thanks but thats only because I`m not a skinhead, goth, reggea fan or lager drinker. Dont know what the cellar is used for but it certainly aint for secondary fermentation. Don`t think you`ll ever find this in the CAMRA good beer guide !!!!!!!

There used to be four pubs along this quaint street that I remember - this is the sole survivor, recently resurrected by the Braganza family. Well worth including if you're on a trundle around the Westcliff area of Ramsgate, particularly if the delightful Samantha is working!
Going in an anti-clockwise from here, you've got the Bedford, having turned right into Westcliff Road, ( but avoid the ale if there is any available ) the Artillery, then along Royal Road to Churchills, along the Paragon and into Nelson Crescent arriving at the Foy Boat.
The Charlotte gets a respectable 5/10.
P.S. If I discover who "fran" is, he/she will be getting invoiced for my comments!

Has been closed for around 6 months, however has just reopened. Really small and really friendly pub, not much to speak of beer wise. Definitely worth a stop on a crawl in ramsgate.
