Queen Charlotte, Ramsgate

We were here on a Friday night recently. We always pop in when we're in Ramsgate and it's a nice atmosphere if it's heavily London ex-pat. Beers are good. My main gripe is that one of the women serving completely ignored me for about five mins to the point where I said, "Excuse me, I..." and she just walked past me to serve a bearded regular. The other barmaid, who'd been away from the bar, appeared and asked me if I wanted serving to which my reply was: "Er, ye-eah!" We're probably going to move to Ramsgate and if we do I'll grow a beard and maybe this won't happen again.

The Crabtree, Hammersmith

Am in the Crabtree now - my second visit. Enthusiastic barman remembered me. Decent real ale selection and fish and chips was good if pricey. I won't be back here for another year as I only have to venture to W6 to see my accountant. My main criticism is that for lunchtime and mid-afternoon the music is inappropriate and too intrusive for the clientele. It's a right row and there's no escape as there are speakers everywhere.

The Cuckfield, Wanstead

Came in for lunch today. Very nice. I paricularly want to mention the Antipodean barmaid who is friendly, efficient and enthusiastic. When she got caught up with a big round and a couple of us were waiting she called on the cutlery polisher to give her a hand, which has been lacking here sometimes. The man who pulled my first pint was nice too. My main grumble about the Cuckfield at the moment is no wi fi. I'm sure plenty of people, like me, would bring their laptops to work over a pint or two.
