This Holden's pub is consistently excellent, the beer is always spot on. Nice atmosphere, you can't go wrong here.

The Golden Lion is next to Bridgnorth's North Gate in High Town. It's now owned by Holden's. Their 4 ales were Black Country Bitter, Black Country Mild, Special & Golden Glow. They also had a couple of real ciders - Weston's Flat Tyre & Thatcher's Stan's Big Apple. There is a small bar and a lounge. We sat in the bar area, where the regulars were chatty and a few shoppers were present. Live rugby union was on the TV. A decent pub, that would benefit from a guest ale. Although, I appreciated the ciders.

Four of us dropped in early Saturday evening - busy with people obviously having a drink before going on places. Friendly atmosphere in lounge and bar - got a seat in the bar. Excellent pint of Hobson's Golden Glow, with a good range of other beers. Worth a visit.

Spent a few days staying in Bridgnorth, and found this to be far the best pub in the town. Good range of local beers, friendly staff, mainly Nick, and the local were also friendly, made to feel very welcome.

Called in for lunch on a visit to Bridgnorth: what a cracking old traditional pub. Decent food (nice home-made steak pie with plenty of veg) and fine pint of Wye Valley HPA to go with it. Sat in the front bar, enjoying the food and ale while listening to the regular old boys propping up the bar and talking nonsense. Just how a town pub should be!

We stayed for a night during the music festival and although we didn't drink here there were 4 ales on , including Town Crier. Seemed a decent pub but has some tough competition in the town.

What a GREAT Pub

Nice unfussy traditional pub with excellent well kept beer.

This was a good pub in 1961, and it seems to have remained so.

Friday lunchtime stopped for decent and reasonably priced Veg Lasagne with salad and Broccolli and cheese bake with veg. Good local friendly atmosphere and quite popular. Shandy and coke on this occasion as only passing through. However looking forward for an evening vist soon to sample what seemed to be a good selection of ales.

Archetypal old fashioned public bar and lounge set up whcih the pubcos have viciously murdered over the years. Friendly enough locals and decent beer (in the shape of Wye Valley HPA on this occasion). Probably the best pub in the 'top' town.

I think this has recently been taken over by a new landlord, as we overheard him setting out his plans for the future, including doing food in the evening. The very best of British too him! Very friendly and an excellent selection of real ales, this is one of the best pubs in Bridgnorth.

Super little place. A nice white rendered front, with window boxes, gives you the feel the place is looked after. Three rooms inside; bar, lounge and dining area, which have wallpaper rather than the plain look that seems to be everywhere these days and a few nice old pictures. Service was really friendly.
The beer gave excellent choice; Hobsons Town Crier, Abbeydale Belfry, HPA, Green King IPA and Tods Blonde. The Crier was nice, the Belfry and Blonde (not the one behind the bar!) were not so nice, thats not to say they were not kept well, just not to my taste.
There is no way you can come to Bridgnorth and not visit here - i can only see my rating for this pub improving

6 well-kept real ales, (mostly from local breweries) and very good accommodation at a reasonable make this a must if you're staying here. Basic, comfortable layout with 3 rooms, 2 front rooms (one with an unobtrusive HD Sky Sports screen), and a back room reserved for conversation. Service very friendly. Another must in a town of great pubs.

Friendly local pub, decent beer range, Hobsons and Wye Valley were two featured. Very strange seating in front bar! I cant add more than the other reviews!

Wonderful Hobsons Town Crier on our May 2 visit. 3 rooms with seating out the back. On viewing the menu decided to lunch here. Good choice over the 'spoons next door. Fresh, large crusty baguettes filled with meat at very reasonable prices. Rest of the menu looked very nice also.

Stayed here last night. Decent ensuite accomodation & breakfast @ 40. Pub has two lounges along with another room simply called the Bar. 4 real ales on tap GK IPA, Hobsons Town Crier, Holdens Special & Salopian Hop Twister. Had a pint of the Special which was OK and a pint of the Hop Twister which was excellent. Came back for last orders and had another pint of the Hop Twister it was so good. It's a really nice pub with some real characters in the bar. I'd happily stay here again. In fact I probably will in a few weeks time.

A lovely place. Not damaged by any refit. Has a super atmosphere and lots of character. On a monday lunchtime I was able to order a fresh roast lamb dinner, Beers G.K. IPA, Hobsons 'Town Crier', Beer works 'Steel Hammer' and Three Castles 'Stoned'. Had the stoned which was very nice.

Wonderful old coaching inn with an attractive exterior. I visited in October 2006 during a day out on the Severn Valley railway. It was a friendly pub serving an excellent pint of Jennings Snecklifter and delicious roast beef rolls. I spent a pleasant afternoon there chatting to the locals and watching the rugby on TV before heading off to get the train back.
