Compared to most of the other pubs in the area, pretty quiet when we visited during the fireworks. Beer was OK, not too expensive (£3.80/pint) from Tavy Ales. A reasonable choice if you like to sit down in pleasant surroundings while drinking.

Loud, boozy &bawdy when we called in last Saturday. Perhaps less so on weekdays and probably a good spot for a civilsed beer at lunchtime. Its certainly got good beers and a realism that some of its other overdeveloped neighbours lack. One of the barbicans more mature pubs perhaps .

Average kind of pub. The ale (Dartmoor Pale) was okay.

Excellent little find on a crawl. A couple of excellently kept ales, both local, one of which was surprisingly cheap. The landlord and Landlady Ian & Ros were brilliant hosts and most helpful in giving us pointers, as to where to go for ale in Plymouth. Highly recommended.

A decent pub, offering a few well kept ales at remarkably good prices (especially for the Barbican!). Service is friendly whenever I've been in. They have a reasonable (if small) selection of decent whiskies on sale too. Can be a bit quiet at times, but always possible to strike up a conversation to while the time away. Definitely worth a visit if what you're after is a good pint.

my favourite pub in Plymouth!

Great real ale Summerskills MRB, MCC and Indiana Bones. MRB and MCC exclusive to the Maritime. Unique Sky Italia sports and Saturday 3 oclock kick off's.
|
Probably the best pub after the Dolphin on the Barbican. Gets a bit tasty in the evenings on weekends, but does good Summerskills beers and has Thatcher's Gold on tap. Stop off here if you're down during the day.

Went on a Saturday lunchtime. A very safe bet, reasonable food, excellent ale and a good location. Worth a visit

Very pleasant. Only two beers on, but both of a good strength (Abbot and Summerskill's SQB). Pleasant service and the food menu looked good value too, so it's worth checking out if you're on the Barbican.

Visited this lovely Good Beer Guide pub while in Plymouth for the beer festival in July 07. It can be entered from 2 different streets, and they lead to different atmospheres in the bar areas. Great seating outside one entrance for people watching while enjoying the good beer.
