A free house.

A deceptive pub as it seems a lot larger on the inside than from the outside. One large room with a bar running down one side with tables set aside for food on the other side.
St Austell 'Tribute' and Dartmoor 'Jail' on tap at time of visit both in good condition, served by a friendly barman.
Seems a pleasant enough place to while away some time. Car park at rear with a nearby beer garden which is mainly a grassy area, additional outside seating at the front of the pub.

We nearly drove straight past this pub, despite looking for it. The car park is around the back. A pool table takes centre stage inside and was grabbing all the attention on our visit, despite a large screen showing live FA Cup football. Directors, Proper Job, Doom Bar & Tribute were the ales on offer, with Addlestones cider also available. Predominantly a locals pub, but not too bad.

We visited on two evenings while staying in Ashton on holiday and enjoyed a warm welcome, helpful and efficient landlord, well kept beer and, above all, some tantalisingly tasty food. A wonderful place, just a shame it's 300 miles from home!

Lovely clean pub with very welcoming landlord and landlady. Excellent food, a little expensive for food ordered at the bar though. It's a pitty that our order couldn't have been taken at the table rather than going to the bar, this would have been such a little thing to do, but make a big difference, especially when the bar was so busy. Fillet steak was 16.95 and a chicken curry 11.50. We will return due to the excellent food and hopefully get served at the table next time. It's worth paying a little more here for the cleanliness and friendly staff. The pub doesn't look that big or exceptionally good from the outside, but deffinately worth visiting, especially for Sunday lunch. A good large car park at the rear.

The food is good enough pub food. But you have to be wary which day you go. The staff are very fickle in their welcome. The landlady ( I assume the older Welsh lady IS the landlady) can be very moody. Doesn't make for the best atmosphere. So if you just want something to eat it's OK, but it's not the place for a fun night out.

Excellent beer - pleasant welcome - Good Pirates beer on offer and cracking Addlestones cider.......After an evil 15 mile coastal walk (and lack of decent pubs en route from Penzance) this place delivered...

Visited this pub in July 07 for a meal while on the way to the Lizard. Enjoyed both the lasagne and Skinners Betty Stogs in the large clean bar area.
