Things have changed here I think.. apparently the old landlord now runs The Dunstable arms. From what I was told in other pubs this is now the lager pub for the younger clientele. I didn't go in, so can't comment, but it didn't look a real ale pub...

Very welcoming, friendly pub just off the beaten track, with a wide choice of local beers in truly excellent order. Pleasing to see such a mix of locals and families, tourists and couples - and lots of dogs too. Decor is a little tired and a real cider would have been nice, but well worth your custom as they know how to keep their ale.

Humpty Dumpty Golden Gorse in average condition. Strange pricing - halves charged at 25% more than pints?!

A good variety of six beers to choose from and encouraged to try before you buy.
There was a strange smell throughout the bars, possibly food. But this was in the afternoon and food is only served in the evening.

An excellent pub six rotating guest beers, knowledgeable staff,a garden with sea views a pool table in the"public bar". A recent CAMRA winner of the Norwich and North Norfolk POTY, from my visit awarded on merit. The close opposite suffered the first German bomb of W.W.
One and is called Whitehall, most strange.

FOUND this pub the other day when working in Norfolk great pub great beer great and friendly staff, as far as i am concerned the best pub in Sheringham. Its tucked away down the back streets but i think that what makes it ...Its a proper locals pub not there to rip the holiday makers off well done keep up the good work.
If i ever return for a holiday with my family i will most defiantly go to this pub for food and drink .....i would stay away from pubs up the high street they are rip offs and the beer and food is not very good.

Excellent range of ales, friendly and a good all-rounder of a pub. Seems to attract a good daytime mix of locals / tourist and different ages

Spent most evenings of a week in Sheringham in the Windham Arms. Usually 6 real ales on, 1 or 2 of which were Woodfordes. All their beers will be locale now, I think theres a sign up saying so, so don't expect to see anythign from miles away. I remember some from Wolf, Winters and a very nice stout from a Yarmouth brewery. All always in top condition. Didnt have any, but food still looks as good as ever.

Visited on the strength of the camra nomination, very dissapointing.
Only had 3 ales on, two stouts and golden jackel.
Nice pub layout and seemed friendly enough, nice outside seating.
Perhaps it was just a bad day to visit?

A pub of two halves - public bar and a saloon/eating area. Good range of local ales kept in good condition - although I mainly concentrated on the Nog!

Local real ales sold at this pub. I tried one each from Wolf and Woodforde's - both were in excellent conditions. Interesting looking food menu. Friendly welcome and service and a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Great seaside pub much nicer than others close by. Formiderble landlady is great fun and Greek food is good. Nice choice of real ale which the landlady selects by the look of the pump clip

A pub of two halves, of which, we entered what appeared to be the local lads bar complete with pool table, sports on telly and a selection of lagers on display. The other half seemed to be more where the ale drinkers went but we were comfortable enough in this half. A list on the wal displayed what ales were available I went for a pint of the Wolf's Royal Anglian. Beer was nice and the place is worth a visit - in fact was an oasis of calm from the rest of town which was engulfed in some kind of Morris Dancers convention.

We went here after travelling on the nearby North Norfolk Railway. This pub has a good mix of locals and visitors like us. The food was excellent and there was a super choice of local micros for the beers including 2 from Woodforde's and 1 from Humpty Dumpty and 1 from Wolf, all in top condition.

The best beer in Sheringham. The food is good too with Greek dishes a speciality. Staff ok.

Very friendly place, great well kept beer (and a decent range too) and well cooked, unpretentious food. They specialise in Greek food too, didn't try this but it looked pretty good

Much better than I expected in a seaside town like this

Definitely our groups favourite pub from last Saturdays pre Sheringham beer festival mini crawl. It is a current GBG regular and also in the current Woodfordes Ale Trail. Friendly welcome to our large group and a comfortable place to stay for a drink or two. A pub that really believes in LocAle with all hand pumps from Norfolk breweries. Woodfordes Wherry, Nelsons Revenge & Nog, Humpty Dumpty Reedcutter, Spectrum Light Fantastic, Wolf Straw Dog and even a Pure Norfolk Cider available. A good selection of food is available daily so we decided to eat here. It is reasonably priced food with many local ingredients. The ham, eggs and chips had local carved Norfolk ham which was very tasty.

Very good beer, probably the best in Sheringham now. Two from Woodfordes on, plus two/three more from other local breweries; I can only remember the name of one, Wolf. All sampled during my week in Sheringham and all very good.

Food is also very good.

BTW, the pub is called the Windham Arms but it is on Wyndham Road.

Warm and friendly welcome from bar staff and landlord alike. Great range of Norfolk ales: Wolf - Straw Dog, Spectrum - Light Fantastic, Humpty Dumpty - Reedcutter, Woodfordes - Nog, Wherry & Nelson's Revenge. Also had a Norfolk Real Cider on handpump. All ales sampled by our group (which I think was most of them) were is top condition. Food available (pub fayre with a few Greek dishes) but has already been described. Not the biggest of pubs but has a garden out the back.

This is now the best pub in Sheringham IMHO. Because of its position it doesn't get hit by the tourists as much as other places. They always have a selection of well-kept ales, including those from Wolf Brewery, and the Greene King and Woodford's stalwarts. The place was bought by a chap from Corfu who is busy in the kitchen most of the time but comes out to say hello. The food is excellent, genuine Greek food, including divine meat dishes like slow-cooked lamb, and vegetarian options like moussaka.

Not visited for a few months now, but when we did go, we were impressed. The new owners had improved things (it did used to be a bit of a dump).

Did Greek food as a speciality (one of owners from Greece?) and it was very good. Also the usual pub grub style offerings. Food is reasonably priced.

Had a good selection of beers, and both I had were a nice pint.

In contention for the best Pub in Sheringham now, I'd say, as the nearby Lobster seems to have lost its way.
bluebootycat - 4 Aug 2008 17:04
The Eagles have just done the local Lobster Potties festival which was well supported by this pub. Good honest local with an excellent range of beers
CaptainDave - 8 Jul 2008 08:44
Very friendly pub - and helpful too. The beer was good with a wide range of local beers. Certainly worth a visit if you are in Sheringham
