Fitzgeralds Whitley Bay, Whitley Bayback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
This has now been renamed as The Brewery and is the home to the Whitley Bay Brewery. Normally has 3 beers on from the brewery.

Not as nice or as popular as Fitzgerald's pubs I've been to in Newcastle or Sunderland. But still a decent pub. 3 ales were on - Fyne Ales Jarl, Allendale Adder & Titanic Plum Porter. Cider was Thistly Cross Original. It's a spacious room with seating spread around the large central bar. It was very quiet on my Wednesday afternoon visit. It has competition from a Wetherspoons just round the corner. Best pub I tried in Whitley Bay.

For some reason they've moved two of the real ales to the rear bar. Only occasionally pop in to see what is on. There's been a few unusual beers on the last few weeks. Always been quiet when I've gone in, even on a Saturday night.

Completely different bar from the other reviewers comments! An awful place and atmosphere, full of drunken kids who could barely stand up, loud irritating music with raucous shouting and screeching. Even the beer is dumbed down, with no premium lagers (probably just as well) and the real ales did not look appealing. Never again - not on a Saturday evening anyway!!!!! (The complete opposite of its Grey Street, Newcastle namesake)

Having walked down to the seafront from the Metro station, and then half-way back again, I'd almost given up on finding somewhere vaguely civilised for a pint. However, after the very dubious looking establishments along South Parade, I thought that Fitzgeralds looked rather more promising despite a bit of peeling paint. Once inside, you find a fine traditional pub with many interesting features and a good selection of real ale (including a nice pint of Beamish Bitter from the Stables microbrewery).
