THERE'S NO BEER HERE! This pub is now closed and boarded-up.

This pub on the face of it should be very good, 3 real ales on, 2 of them from The Vale Brewery. A real fire. Quite a large historic pub. It has, however a worn feel to it, the bar staff, whilst friendly, didn't know much about beer. The beer was variable but drinkable. On a Saturday evening it wasn't busy at all.

Full of loud shell suited chavs spoiling for a fight. Not what you would expect in Great Missenden, Until these oinks are permanently ejected and the place moved up market this pub will be doomed to failure. I did not even try the beer;I went in one door and out the other. How many customers have been frightened away?

What a sad place, looked unloved, and in desperate need for some smartening up and warmth put in to it. The beer was fine, the staff tried, but the place lacked charm. It has the potential to be a very good pub and restaurant, lots of old English pub beams and fires, but it just does not work at present.

I like this pub with it's cosy atmosphere & fire. The beers on were Purity Mad Goose, Sharps Doombar, and Sharps Cornish Stout - the latter was in good nick & 3 pints were 9.30. Interesting decently priced beer so 7/10.

Quite a nice pub with atmosphere. Hard to park, double yellow lines and could not use the pubs small car park as a police van was blocking the entrance! Looks an interesting pub, spoiled slightly by a gaming machine near the bar. Service good and friendly.

This has now re-opened and they are selling Chiltern Ales - Beechwood etc.
This could be a great pub, it has lots of multi-level nooks and crannies in which to enjoy your pint.
It needs to get back the long lost support of the locals before a good atmosphere returns.
Give it a try for the ale alone.

Now shut. A pity because once upon a time (10 years ago) it was a flourishing pub, with good beer and food. Still, it has a good position and a fine building, so let's hope that someone is brave enough to try again.

Dire pub with no local support or atmosphere.

Great place to have drink on your own on a Saturday night. You could well be the only customer. This pub is 14th century with lots of character. Sadly you do not get characters in there. No real ale. This pub is kept spotlessly clean and the food is of a good standard. Notices in the bar instruct customers not to use there mobile phones!
