Tried to pop in here last Saturday night around 10.45pm. The sign outside said it was open til midnight but nobody was around and the place was in darkness.

Quirky & friendly? A welcome stop after a very bitter walk back in the wind last night from Sharpenhoe. A nice fire, another friendly face behind the bar, and interested inquiries given the driving snow flurries outside. It had been treacherous coming down from the Clappers - and Taylor's Golden Best helped retire equanimity if not balance before a slide up & around in the part. Irvin snow cover to the station.

Good beer. Friendly and efficent service.

Very nice, friendly pub with excellent beer. Really lovely time to be had here.

Very nice place this. Much improved of late, with a good ale selection and a friendly young lady behind the bar.

Quirky up and down lay out to parts of this pub and a reasonable pint ( tried the Adnams and the Cornish Tribute). Friendly enough and good to have two pubs in a village. Wouldn't rate this as highly as the Carpenters but it is still lower than it should be. Maybe one of the barred local folk has an axe to grind.

Traditional village inn, thankfully retaining the original layout so you get an interesting collection of different-sized rooms and cosy corners. Four real ales on, including an excellent pint of the seasonal Camerons Fireside which was just right for a cold winter evening. Friendly and efficient staff too, so the current rating of 5.7 is much too low.

A friendly, cosy period pub which offers a selection of real ales as well as commercial lagers and live sports in the larger of the bar areas.
The owners are showing a real commitment to British ale, holding regular beer festivals and having been spotted in various real ale pubs across Bedfordshire. Not tried the food, but fully intend to.

During November 2008 this pub was taken over and has now been returned to its former glory. A very clean pub which has 4 well kept real ales, the pub I understand is about to get its Cask Marque. The owners are currently upgrading the patio and gardens and will be refurbishing the whole of the pub later during the year. They have dominoes and dart's teams.

It was ran by Paul and had just become our local but unfortunately we went in on Friday and he seems to have left!! The new people weren't that friendly and had their own "cronies" at the bar and the Guinness they served was disgusting, tasted of Bacardi. Lets hope they're temporary and whoever takes it on pulls it around again. Shan't be visiting for a while despite being 5 mins round the corner from it.

Very good Tribute in community-focused old pub; shame it was quiet but interrupted by competing TV and radio blaring.

Haven't eaten in here yet as everytime we've been the place seems to be shut. Heard that it may be going under new management again. Guinness is good but you're paying City prices of 3.10 for a pint compared to 2.90 up the road at the Carpenters Arms. Quite atmospheric as long as you don't have the locals and 5 kids in there having a drink

Food has been dummed down to suit the local taste. Good Sunday lunches and monthly theme buffets always packed. Friendly bar staff and manager and standard ales (periodic guest beers as well). No longer has a darts team but some of the old dominoers are still going (just).

Within 10 minutes walk of Harlington station, this 17th century pub has recently been completely refurbished, with refitted kitchen, under new management and provides a comprehensive menu of good food. Friendly atmosphere, beer garden/patio with children's play area. Thriving darts and dominoes teams.
