Look of the Pub 9/10
Staff 9/10
Beers 10/10
Food 5/10
I found my food cold which is a big no no,but my wife enjoyed hers.
Beer was excellent and the surroundings great, all the staff were pleasant and willing to help.
Will give it another go but already people are starting to say the food is a let down.
If they want to keep this fox 🦊 alive they are going to need an improvement in this area.

Ventured in here a couple of times for a quick drink since it reopened. Only a fleeting visit to sample the cask beer on offer, so I can't pass comment on the food range or quality - other than to say it is usually reasonable, if rather pricey, based on the fayre offered at the nearby B & P hostelries operated on the same model.

On the first occasion I found the beer to be lacking (Dark Star Partridge), but resolved it was likely just bad luck end-of-the-barrel. My visit last night would seem to confirm this supposition, as my ale was fresh as a daisy and full of the joys of spring (Crafty Brewing Co Heady Steady Go). I can only trust the others were in similar form - all five of them and mostly local.

Although a quiet period, the pub felt homely, with log fires, and a superb professionally-planted terrace and garden to enjoy on a fine day.

Service-wise, all seemed to be in order. The manager served me and was both polite and efficient. Numerous youngsters were also on hand to help when things busied-up.

Although perhaps a little lacking in character and a tad too open now for some, this place is looking promising. The Fox does indeed seem to have been Revived.

Popped in with the family over the weekend, great food, welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Good choice of local ales means I guess this is a freehouse. I remember coming here when I worked at the airport and it was THE place to go...looks like it's still a favourite of the locals and visitors alike...we'll be back, Sunday lunches looked great by the way...wished I'd ordered one when I saw it coming out. great garden even if the weather wasn't the best though.

A library with alcohol? Sounds superb!

A nice place to visit in the summer for a Ploughmans lunch in the huge conservatory. Will keep going back. Quaint front bar, a bit like being in a library.

Dreadful service. Having waited patiently for my turn to be served (there was only one person before me), locals turned up at the bar to be served immediately, The manageress looked at me indicating she knew what was happening. We took our custom to the Surrey Oaks in Newdigate where much better food and beer were served.

Good food, reasonably priced (and cheaper than the Jolly Farmer, it's sister pub), nicely full with attentive staff. Great for a bit of mid week supper.

Although comfortable and pleasant, the Fox does feel a bit formulaic and gastro, the decor has a made up and carefully planned feel, not an evolution over time. A bit like a franchise restaurant, what they think customers expect to see and experience.

The decision to supply local brewed beers is to be applauded, Darkstar almost always making an appearance is terrific. Combine this to the an almost constant level of quality and this is one of only three pubs in the area to go for a decent pint (think Newdigate and Ironbridge for the other two).

One big complaint however is when having a drink later on in the evening. From about 10pm the staff get out the vacuum cleaners and do the cleaning. At this point it obviously starts to get disruptive and conversations become difficult. This is irritating and makes you feel that you aren't wanted there anymore. I can't think of any other pubs that do this, why they can't employ morning cleaners like other places, this is a huge let down to the overall experience.

Everybody has a bad experiance now and again, The Jolly Farmers is the sister pub to this but do not slag one off and taint the other without even trying it.
Give them both a go and make up your own mind.

Fox Revived needs Revival - decided to book our 12th wedding anniversay meal on a Saturday evening. If 'attentive service' is one end of the scale the service this night was at the other end! Shown to table at 7:50pm and left the table (having had just started and main course) at 10:20pm. To say the service was slow is an understatement. The blurb states food is 'freshly cooked' but my wife does not eat butter and this seemed to be a major stumbling block for the staff. waited 30+ minutes for starter, 30+ minutes for main and the same again to pay the bill. Had to ask 3 times for bread (any bread) and twice for wine list and water...we're not a picky couple and put up with a lot but this was just pathetic. Food quality was reasonable but service has put us off for life. I wouldn't bother even trying the Jolly Farrmers (sister pub) at Buckland. Save your hard-eanred income and try Dukes Head at Copthorne for honest food and service or Half Moon at Warninglid for great pub grub and ale and excellent service day-in, day-out (same price as Fox Revived by the way!!!).,

Made my first visit during the busy Bank Holiday weekend which was the same tiem as the Surrey Life festival at the pub.

Despite the place being very busy the staff were extremely friendly and helpfull and the Addlestones Cloudy Cider was excellent.

Had a simple luch (fish and chips and a ploughmans) both were very good and I would like to try the food at dinner to compare.

All in all a very nice pub that I will be certainly visiting again.

Popped in yesterday. Hophead (3.20), Arundel Sussex Gold, W J King Green Bullet and Pilgrim Surrey. Sat outside so didn't really investigate but a smart looking pub.

Having not appeared here for 5 years, I was only prompted to return thanks to the recently-issued 2011 Good Beer Guide, which assures readers/pubgoers of fine ale and food. Not that that wasn't the case to a degree 5 years ago, but the selection and qaulity of beer was as I recall indifferent and the food menu average. How times change. The new licensee seems to have made a good fist of moving the Fox firmly in the direction of gastroism; whilst not to everybody's taste I can't dispute that the menu looks tempting, and no more highly-priced than nearby competitors, with starters under 6 and mains up to 18.
Ale-wise, the quality was found to be tip-top, and moreover, the range has improved heavily, with a clear accent on localism. Surrey Hills, Dark Star, Hepworth and King - all "locale" brewers, featured on the pumps on my last visit yesterday, and I daresay these are regular suppliers, as various bottled fare was on offer from these outlets. My DS Smoked Porter was excellent.
The stripped-down laminate-floored contemporary decor that now pervades will divide; some will relish its modernity and clean style while others will reproach it for lack of traditional touches and being arguably out of keeping with its exterior. That said, the latter has also been smartened up, and one would not necessarily now expect an olde worlde country local. Given that the Fox in its previous incarnation often fell short in that guise, perhaps it is not a bad thing that it has been hauled into the 21st century. It may well prove far more lucrative for the owners, especially given the affluence of the surrounding area.
In some places this blueprint would be neither unusual nor exceptional, but locally the Fox could well carve out a successful niche for local beer and smart food if it plays its cards right. I've yet to try the food myself; it was littered with Christian names prefacing dishes - e.g. "Doreen's Home-Baked tart"; "James's Game Pie" etc etc. I do hope this very obvious allusion to the home-made and all-things "local" isn't just an affectation. Whoever these people are who have their name attributed to the dishes on offer, they won't be in the kitchen preparing it in person; I can only hope the chefs do their recipes justice in their absence. Others will undoubtedly offer their opinion in the fullness of time.

Great weekend here, with loads of excellent bands playing and plenty of Dark Star beers to drink as well. One of the best pubs in a very good area for pubs.

A quick beer update: Dark Star - Hop Head ~ Dark Star - American Pale Ale ~ Dark Star - Saison ~ Surrey Hills - Shere Drop
More ales, all local and excellent on soon. We're very lucky to have a handful of exceptional ale outlets in this locale!

Wow! What a transformation, from an old pub with little or no character to a swish, stylish very modestly decorated pub and restaurant. The restaurant was comfortably packed out which attracted a great clientele with a great atmosphere. Really good English food was well worth the small wait, great variety presentation and freshly prepared. Thank you Chef. No one seemed to eat and run it was definitely a place to socalise sit chat eat and drink with friends and family. Staff are professional polite and do their job very well, it was clear they put the customer first and could all think for themselves. Great leadership and teamwork. Look forward to our next visit, I hope they keep it up and dont let any of the standards slip. Not over priced either.

Used to be a real favourite of mine, but has been closed for a while. I passed yesterday and there was activity. Looks like there are new owners in place and the pub will be ready to re-open in late Aug / early Sept.

Pub very empty when I went in but the Adnams Broadside was in very good form and the staff friendly and helpful. I will go there again.

Went there for lunch recently and was pleasantly surprised. There was 6 of us and it took awhile before the food arrived. However what was clear was that it was all cooked to order. My chicken and mushroom pie served in an individual dish was well cooked and ver tasty, and differed from many other pub restaurants in that this was a real pie and not a casserole with puff pastry dumped on the top. All our group enjoyed their meals which were not over priced (mine was 9.95). I spoke to the staff afterwards about the improvement in cuisine and was told that although this was a M&B chain pub it was now a tenancy and that all the food was freshly prepared.
Well prepared food at an affordable price in a pleasant setting was my opinion.

It's a bit strange to walk into a pub round here at 3:30 on a sunny Sunday afternoon to find yourself alone but for the bloke behind the bar. We ordered two halves of Pride and were given the disgusting keg version. That must be why everyone's gone somewhere else because the surroundings, should someone bother to do a bit of cleaning and tidying occasionally, make it a fine place to while away an hour or two.

This pub is not in Croydon! It is, however, near Charlwood, between Reigate and Gatwick Airport.
