Typical Wetherspoons, very busy on both floors - chips on the floor, rubbish on the tables and the er clientele.... Different beers on different floors - cheap and well kept

Weekday afternoon, pub reasoanably busy, beers OK with a couple of Box brewery beers on. A few chavscum in the smoking area outside as seems to be the norm here but avoidable if you are indoors. Reasonable interor and service pretty good.
|
One quick pint of Bath Ales Summer's Hare before moving on to meet up with the lads. Impressive interior but as has been said already - terribly slow service. The bar staff seemed more interested in their work rotas than the customers!! A few loud punters but OK outside in the sunshine.

Still the nicest interior of the 3 Wethersoons in the Town centre, but it suffers the 'spoons curse of not being able to get served quickly. The bar staff all seem to be working but it can take an age to get served. The other downside was that on Saturday when we were in they turned the music up too loud, too early......I know I'm just an old fuddy duddy. Decent ale selection (as expected), couple of handpump ciders (as expected), a very good daytime/early evening pub.

Pleasant enough pub in the centre of one of the most depressing town centres since I visited Chatham, pleasant staff, excellent real ale and really good (if pretty small) Five Bean Chillie.
|
For interior comfort and atmosphere this is the best of the three 'Spoons in Swindon.
Over Christmas it was packed and the bar service was less than spectacular.
In the upstairs bar, the ales I tried were not quite on form and the Guinness was absolutely dire.
Hopefully standards will return to normal after the Christmas / New Year frenzy.

And they seem to have found the 'on' switch for the heating too.

Visited again yesterday afternoon as I had forgotton that the Gluepot doesnt open until 1630 on Mondays, had 4 pints of Double Expresso stout for 1.69 a pint in the beer fest, served in excellant condition. Bar service quick, friendly and efficient by Spoons standards, although admittantly it was a quiet time of day. Clean and comfortable definately gone up in my estimation, the Groves and the Savoy remain the same, conplete toilets.

first time i have been in this spoons/lloyds. having been in the other ones in swindon. i would have to say this my favourite, plenty outside place to sit and the abbott was of good quality if in swindon again would choose this lloyds/spoons

Reasonable service and good ales, though not a great selection for a McSpoons. As to be expected the Scottish ales for "Burns Weekend" were unavailable.

Hodge1 is a right moaner isn't he? People like him will be the death of the trade. Very good pub catering for popular busy weekends and real ale drinkers. The music at the weekends is not as intrusive as a lot of the other downtown pubs, there is always a selection of ales, a fair amount of decent bottled ciders and usually one "proper" cider. Only real complaint is that they do s'bow as a main cider (OH! and sometimes seem to make up dress restrictions)

Now this is the posh up market W*nkerspoons in Swindon where the Giro Jims etc are not welcome, the Groves is not far away to cater for the likes of those herberts. It was built on the site of a previous Sir Daniel pub which was a really run down hole but which closed after most of its regulars died. Good selection of ales but the pub and the beer always seems bloody freezing to me, you need a coat on in the middle of summer.

Nice place good for meeting friends for the start of a night out.....
|
The Japanese real ale that I sampled in here last night was superb! Very busy with all age groups about.
|
Took ages to get served and i thought Wetherspoons were meant to be cheap! Bar man that served us didn't know what he was doing and had food all down his top, not a good look. Good music though
|
Nice spoons just a shame about the daytime clientele it attracts.

Service is shocking and always seems full of 'working girls'

Not a bad Wetherspoon by any stretch. Sometimes you can get genuinely interesting guest ales on. Food is the usual wetherspoon fare, served quickly - bar staff good and generally quite chatty.
A safe and sound after work venue, and quite possibly the best place to drink in the Fleet Street end of town for sensible drinkers (beware the street does get "lively" after 2100, especially Friday / Saturday nights).
This place seems some kind of hybrid Wetherspoon / Lloyds, the ale range of 'spoons and the Friday and Saturday loud music of a Lloyds. Choose your time and day carefully if you're looking for a quiet pint with friends!

Agreed. Had a very enjoyable session of Ramsbury Flint Knapper here a few months ago. Far better the "Cave" (Savoy) and the "Airport waiting lounge" (Groves)!!! Was organised for opening with the help of the manager from the Commercial Rooms Bristol, which is well worth a visit nowadays.

Wetherspoons/Lloyds latest offering in Swindon, and on early impressions, the best. Nice pub set out over 2 floors, always got people in but never seems crowded. Decent food at reasonable prices, standard 'spoons array of ales and ciders, I recommend trying the Sheppy's Goldfinch to any real cider drinkers. All the normal special nights "curry on a Thursday" etc. All in all a welcome addition to the mayhem of downtown Swindon.
