Top House, Ecclesback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
This seems to attempt an Irish theme, only from the sign though. Nothing else suggested it was Irish. From what I remember there was no ale, we had a couple pints of Guinness and it was okay. Not amazing or anything, decent value for money. The barmaid seemed friendly and the locals were friendly as well. The pub itself is a reasonably sized room but it felt like space was lacking due to the bar and pool table taking up space. Another solid Eccles pub.

Friendly pub which offers great value of money. Hydes Bitter and Hydes Black are great value and are also on offer at the owners other boozer in Patricroft, The Star. Good to see the pub back open and busy and adds a lot to the Eccles drinking scene.

This is a friendly and cheap pub, you can sit and enjoy a good pint, though the wine leaves something to be desired if you hate dry white wine. I often start an evening in Eccles there with my missus, and have never encountered any trouble over the past 10 years.

The Top House has been taken over since the first 2 reviews were written, really nice couple own it now. Nice quiet pub, friendly people in there.

The real Top House is the pub up the slope by the railway line near Patricroft station. I used to drink there when I worked at the Royal Ordnance Factory (now demolished) and my great grandad drank there before the factory was built!
Average beer, nice pies.

A nice, but slightly confusing pub. A definite profusion of road workers and men hiding from wives at the bar, but a friendly welcome. Beer is tasty, prices are cheap, and it's quiet until 10.15pm on Saturdays - so if you're after a quiet pint, you're sorted.
However, it's the first pub at the top of Church Street, and people have been known to have their wallets knicked while going across the nearby covered bridge - so just you be careful!
