Average kind of pub serving a selection of Dent brews. Was okay rather than decent.

Large pub with accommodation and restaurant in centre of village. Two comfortable rooms, one marked "Public Bar" and the other "Lounge" although there is no appreciable difference in decor. Full range of Dent Brewery beer on tap but in variable condition (one beer excellent, the other below average on my visit). Food seems expensive (about 10 for most things) but Friday night fish-and-chips are better value (get there early though).

Called in for a couple of well-earned pints of T'Owd Tup after a day's mountain biking in the area and found it to be on tip-top form. The food was very welcome too and came in hearty portions.
I agree with one of the comments below that it's not very "pubby" and I do find it a bit cold, light and open in it's feel. But, it's definitely the better of the two pubs in Dent at this current time as I found the beer and food at the Sun (just up the way) to be very much below par when I called in there the night before in an effort to "share-the-wealth" on my recent stay.
I just want to point out that I have been going to Dent on many, many occasions over the years for the folk festivals and walking/biking trips and always find that one pub will always be considered to be the better and favoured by the locals. Then they get new people in to run them and it swings the other way.

I have visited this pub many times over the past year and have enjoyed each time. The beer is always in excellent condition and there is a wide selection of Dent brewery beers plus a guest and cider on hand pull. Food is very good (although better at dinnertime) and reasonably priced. My only criticism is that the interior is not as 'pubby' as the Sun Inn opposite - get the Dent brewery back in the Sun Inn and it'd be great! Aviator and Ramsbottom beers are my favorites. 7/10

Of the 2 pubs in the village this one is the less picturesque. I called at the other first for that reason and found it reasonably busy. However the pint I had was slightly off (Not cloudy however ) and the service and decor nothing remarkable. This pub was empty but the service (Landlords wife ) was friendly and attentive, as was her dog. 10 hand pumps on including a cider and guest beer. the remainder being from Dent brewery as you would expect. I was give guidance on the different characteristics and was not disappointed with tasty beer in perfect condition. The food was also first class. I am bordering on vegetarianism but the ham egg and chips may well send me the other way. Wonderful all round and just what i needed after cycling from the distant railway station. Possibly not what I needed for the final steep ascent back up the 1 in 4 switchback to catch the train home. As I said at the beginning the less good looking of the 2 pubs but in my opinion the better of them both.

Very good beer selection and very well kept. Good food as well. Well worth a visit. We call the landlord Ray, short for Little Ray of Sunshine. He's very angry with Camra for not making him Pub of the Year and has very strong and quite frankly bizarre opinions on other pubs' beer. Apparently, there are only half a dozen microbreweries anywhere whose beers are worth drinking. But still, bless. The barman was really friendly and helpful.

Both pubs in Dent (the Sun is the other) are good but for me the George and Dragon is marginally the better of the two. It's light, clean and airy with 2 pleasant bars and open fires. We ate at lunchtime (the evening menu is more comprehensive) and the food, although very much pub-grub, is well cooked and presented - the home-made chips are particularly good. Yes, the landlord is a bit forthright, a man of strong views (and language) but I rather took to him. His heart is in the right place and he's genuinely trying to improve the facilities. As the Brewery Tap, you'd expect the beer to be good and you won't be disappointed. There are four or five Dent ales on at any time and all are excellent. Well kept and at the right temperature, well worth a visit

Numerous Dent Brewery beers such as Aviator, Dent Ale and Rambrau recommended by Iain. Pool in the available in the backroom. Pub is divided into two sections and the landlady was quite friendly

Ran by perhaps the rudest landlord I have ever had the misfortune to bump into. At 5:30pm he refused to answer my wife's pleas for a high-chair so she could feed our hungry daughter, instead telling us we would have to wait 10 minutes for his staff to turn up. And when it did turn up the high-chair had no restraints to hold our baby comfortably inside it. Our daughters continued distress resulted in him suggesting that opium might be the answer to shutting her up. The Sun Inn across the road was far and away a friendlier place serving a better beer to boot.

Dent - the land that time forgot. The George and Dragon is the dent brewery tap. There seemed to be 6 dent ales on offer. A description of each dent beer was written on two blackboards on the wall. Below this were jars of ale ingredients and a copper kettle on a marble fireplace. Two main rooms and a restaurant down the stairs lots of highly polished wood. I tried a pint of Dent Aviator whilst wifey had half of Rambrau, a very pale lager type real ale, ideally suited to lager drinkers and women. The barmaid and waitress were both charming superbly complimenting the big shouty manager. Thats him to the left of the handsome chap. Visit Dent if you get the chance. 7. Went back over Christmas and was very sad to find John and Anne had gone. Rather a shame as they made us so welcome - locals seemed to be disapointed too. Several of the Dent Brewery Ales were available on our visit.

Grate local pub taht caters for the many holiday makers who come to this delightful dale as walkers. Beer is from Dent Brewery and John and his wife Ann keep it in prime condition. They go out of their way to make you welcome and they keep a very good pub. The coooking is by John and is beyond reproach. After many years of variable Managers John and Ann have brought the pub up to a high standard.
