Average kind of pub serving a selection of Dent brews. Was okay rather than decent.

Large pub with accommodation and restaurant in centre of village. Two comfortable rooms, one marked "Public Bar" and the other "Lounge" although there is no appreciable difference in decor.
Full range of Dent Brewery beer on tap but in variable condition (one beer excellent, the other below average on my visit). Food seems expensive (about 10 for most things) but Friday night fish-and-chips are better value (get there early though).

Called in for a couple of well-earned pints of T'Owd Tup after a day's mountain biking in the area and found it to be on tip-top form. The food was very welcome too and came in hearty portions.

I agree with one of the comments below that it's not very "pubby" and I do find it a bit cold, light and open in it's feel. But, it's definitely the better of the two pubs in Dent at this current time as I found the beer and food at the Sun (just up the way) to be very much below par when I called in there the night before in an effort to "share-the-wealth" on my recent stay.

I just want to point out that I have been going to Dent on many, many occasions over the years for the folk festivals and walking/biking trips and always find that one pub will always be considered to be the better and favoured by the locals. Then they get new people in to run them and it swings the other way.

I have visited this pub many times over the past year and have enjoyed each time. The beer is always in excellent condition and there is a wide selection of Dent brewery beers plus a guest and cider on hand pull. Food is very good (although better at dinnertime) and reasonably priced. My only criticism is that the interior is not as 'pubby' as the Sun Inn opposite - get the Dent brewery back in the Sun Inn and it'd be great! Aviator and Ramsbottom beers are my favorites. 7/10

Of the 2 pubs in the village this one is the less picturesque. I called at the other first for that reason and found it reasonably busy.
However the pint I had was slightly off (Not cloudy however ) and the service and decor nothing remarkable.
This pub was empty but the service (Landlords wife ) was friendly and attentive, as was her dog. 10 hand pumps on including a cider and guest beer. the remainder being from Dent brewery as you would expect. I was give guidance on the different characteristics and was not disappointed with tasty beer in perfect condition. The food was also first class. I am bordering on vegetarianism but the ham egg and chips may well send me the other way. Wonderful all round and just what i needed after cycling from the distant railway station. Possibly not what I needed for the final steep ascent back up the 1 in 4 switchback to catch the train home.
As I said at the beginning the less good looking of the 2 pubs but in my opinion the better of them both.
