Prince Of Wales, Ampthillback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Not a bad place by any means, but I'd say that it comes at least fifth in Ampthill, after the Albion, Old Sun, Queen's Head and E&T - no fault of the POW mind, it's just that Ampthill is particularly blessed with fine hostelries. Beer isn't bad (Eagle and Bombardier).

Not really a pub pub as focus is on the food. But the food is generally very good and the refit of the pub, including the family area gardens, has been a great success. Recommended for lunch.

Actually would revise the comment about the food after a subsequent visit as it does look pretty good but it ain't really a pub as more a restaurant. (and at least the Eagle IPA is a good pint here)

Somewhere describing itself as 'pub & dining' should always ring the alarm bells with your average pub goer. Does a drinkable pint on the Wells range but not somewhere I'd want to drink ( or eat either for that matter)

The pub looks much better now and is back on my list to go to whenever I am in the area.

When I was of near-drinking age in ampthill back in the 80s, this was the pub to avoid. However, I saw the refit last weekend and against my better judgement, popped in for a swift one. Unrecognisable. Well done.

Pretty good all round.

This newly refurbished pub/dining restaurant is really great for Ampthill, if you want something different to the usual local pubs. Cosy leather sofas, soft jazz music in the bar, where you can relax and unwind. It's a Charles Wells so the usual beers to be had as well as Fosters, Red Stripe. The dining room serves well above average food and it's a pleasure to eat there. Richard, the new owner, is forever helpful and cheerful and I can't recommend this place highly enough.
