Visited last summer but forgot to post. A wonderful proper pub that served some of the best beer I've had in a great village atmosphere. Seen it is for sale which presume accounts for absence from 2014 Beer Guide.

A great place. Visited last Sunday. Food choice was limited to pizzas and baguettes, but there were good. Two real ales on gravity behind the bar. I had a Plain Ales Arty Farty which was nice. Very cosy pub, with real fire, and a friendly welcome. I would have liked to have stayed all afternoon.

Visited recently on a Sunday afternoon for first time in several months - still eccentric and wacky! Crop Circle in great nick. Mad game of spoof taking place in one corner, lunch party in another corner consuming vats of wine - great atmosphere ! Still one of the best boozers in the area.

Great, brilliant, fab little boozer in the middle of the beautiful Somerset countryside. Muddy boots and muddy dogs, comfortable seats and the best ale for miles. Staff and locals alike are a pleasure to chat too all this and the craziest little jukebox i have ever seen. Walked in and wobbled out, what a brilliant night - will return when i can. Keep it real.

Beer is kept on a stillage behind the bar and changes all the time. they support lots of different local micros and keep the place simple and welcoming. Seem to be lots of bizarre events happening all the time - indoor wassailing was one of my best nights last winter. definitely one of the most innovative + best pubs around, deserves more consistent support.

Great, old fashioned rustic country boozer! Beer quality varies but pub makes up in proper down-to-earth atmosphere. Not for chattering class foodie wine bar wallies! Genuine pub for genuine people!!
|
A top quality boozeteria, run by people with a passion for good ale, and an even greater passion for good fun! There's always a warm welcome, and something slightly mad about to happen!

I was thinking alehouses was on my wavelength about beer, but maybe I've just been lucky. Several visits have all provided good beer, and this pub is definitely part of my cycle crawl of that area.

Miss Anonymous 19th July hits the nail nearly on the head....but it's a real traditional man's pub...so what do you expect? Occasional live music, sometimes warm and flat too....but a lively jukebox, never too quiet. Traditional local cider usually available.

The whole pub is now refurbished, the bar area much bigger and generally the pub is a lot brighter. However, although the range of beers is good, their quality is far too variable. Whilst some of the beer can be good, all too often beers are flat and warm and seem to be past their best. Never-the-less, it's still worth a visit- you might catch it on a good day!

Last visited this pub in February just as Anita and Damon had taken it over. At that time the skittle alley was being refurbished following a fire the previous year. Good choice of real ales sold from behind the bar all from local breweries.
