Quiet on a recent Saturday night, as were most Bakewell pubs. Comfortable but only a couple of ales on and they were nothing special. Bakewell is a place for walkers and cyclists not drinkers.

My favourite pub in Bakewell without a doubt.
It is traditional but modern at the same time. Very cozy inside, great beer and a nice enclosed beer garden with shelter and heater lights.

Bar staff are always friendly. It also has a games room with pool table and darts and is very popular with both the young people and old alike.

What more could you want in a pub?

On a very busy street in the middle of Bakewell, which was a shock after our walk through deserted hills and farmland! Seemed like an odd place to me. Beer well-kept but unexceptional (Banks's and Brakspear) and barmaid was a little distracted (carried on a conversation about washing machines with a local chap whilst serving me). Wouldn't rush back.

Had a few gorgeous pints of Jennings Cockerhoop and Tizzy Wizzy here yesterday. Beautifully kept beer and sat listening to the most bizarre but interesting mix of music on a very comfortable leather sofa. Pub was pretty empty but it was a Thursday afternoon. Would definitely recommend a visit to this pub.

Given the number of pubs on this site now listed as closed, together with the many on shortened opening hours this place most definitely deserves an honourable mention as one of the few that are actually fighting back in the face of the recession.

Over the last few weeks the Queens has had on ongoing kind of rolling mini beer festival, together with live music most saturday nights. Some, to name but a few, of those I've sampled were, Kels Red, Golden Host, Boondoggle, Two Hoots, Flying Dutchman and Sweet Chariot. All well kept and well served. Tasting notes are posted adjacent to the bar.

There are in any case always four hand pulls on together with a similar number of lagers.

Definitely well worth supporting, keep up the good work landlord!

Best of a not great bunch in Bakewell, but I wish the pub company would let them have one guest beer on. Nice bar staff this afternoon, and the football was on two very good screens. I imagine this place is very different in the evening. Ale that I had was ok Jennings Cockerhoop. 7/10

here and the pub next door (the peacock) are the best in town with fantastic real cask ales
worth a visit when you're in bakewell but always go next door and try the local ales on offer as unfortunately the queens dont do local ale
chatsworth gold is a pure gem at 4.6 per cent
landlord gary is a great bloke

A favourite of mine when I amble into Bakewell, a fair range of changing real ales which are very well kept (as a previous poster has said).

Always very enjoyable!

Big barn of a place with a mix of tourists and local youths. Not the comfiest of pubs, carries the Marstons range of beers (ex W&D) and has a shabby feel about the place.
The queue at the bar was phenomenal but this was Bakewell on Bank Holiday Monday.
Average.

A once lovely pub, ruined by a past makeover when they knocked most of the space into one larger room. Cheap refit a couple of years ago under the current landlord is already starting to look tired. Beer is very good and well kept (take a bow Ben) and the staff on the whole are friendly. The place is let down by the clientele, it attracts most of the town's kids and the pool table (what is it about pool that attracts riff raff?).
