Three Horseshoes, Charsfieldback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Just found out that this pub has closed after the owner refused to renew the lease or something along those lines. A great shame, as this place served some of the best food and ale I have had for some time, and I always received a friendly welcome from Martin and Emma. They really did put a tremendous amount of effort into running the pub.
I have seen this kind of deplorable behaviour from pub owners all too often. I just hope that Charsfield is not destined to be yet another rural community permanently deprived of its local pub. Pubs are one of the few things that are still iconic of British identity, and they are disappearing at an alarming rate.

Went to the Three Horseshoes for lunch today, purely for the sake of going somewhere other than our normal favourites. We were not disappointed. Two ales were available (suppose in a rural area they can only offer as much as they know they will shift - well we wouldn't want any beer wasted now would we?) Although I could only drink Pepsi (the police tend to frown on drinking and driving) the beer I saw being served to others certainly looked in good condition and wasn't staying in the pint glasses long! The food was utterly superb, well cooked and hearty portions for a reasonable price. A real log fire added to the atmosphere. A very nice pub.

Interesting what you say, davehowe, we've eaten there before and the meals are really nice and well made, but we both commented on the blandness and my wife said, 'it's because she's put no seasoning in whatsoever'.
Shame, they were excellent otherwise.

Stopped off for a pint and a roast on a Sunday afternoon, food portions were good but not a huge amount of taste, needed lots of seasoning to give it any interest. Great beer, I had a pint of something from Soham brewery, just down the road, there were some other nice real ales on too. I sat in the garden which is basic but nice enough, had a nice family sitting behind me except for a strange young dad who's language was not very pleasant, I pity the kids. landlord and staff were friendly and the inside of the pub seemed clean and traditional. Worth a visit if you are passing close by.

This Inn is well worth visiting. I particularly like the bar area which is unpretentious and has a real fire when cold. The last beer I had was the Victoria a great real 'bitter' bitter.

The Horseshoes has been run by Martin and Emma for about two years now and I am biased because it is one of my most frequented Pubs.
Martins beer is always of the highest standard, the choice of guests changes fairly rapidly (too rapidly sometimes), and the selections vary widely in type.
The clientele is eclectic in mix and as the bar is quite small this makes for interesting conversation and banter, a friendly lot though.
Emmas food portions will test the heartiest appetite so be warned if you come to drink don't eat, you won't be able to do both.
A large garden for alfresco drinking in the summer and there's a real fire in winter.
