Old pub [next door to George & Dragon] serves food, pleasant bar staff, beer garden at rear [up steps & on 3 levels], 2 ales on when we visited, Timothy Taylor's Landlord [which was OK] and Doom Bar [which I did not sample].

The best pubs in Ilfracombe are in this part of the town and this is one of them. It was busy when we visited the rugby was on and we managed to get a seat by the widow. My pint of Landlord ale was very good and this pub is one to visit when doing an Ilfracome pub crawl.

Nice pub with flagged floors. Had a couple of good pints of real ale in there; nithing to complain about and there were loads of old books you could borrow for 50p which went to charity. Nice touch.

Fantastic place. My wife and I came to Ilfracombe for the week with our dog and we all loved it here. The landlord was a good guy, one of the locals who saw us outside with our dog that told us we could take him inside with us, which made us feel very welcome. Tried a pint of Otter ale which was delicious but the Addlestones cider was just amazing! Love it. Can't wait to return.

Great pub, Made to feel very welcome by the landlord & staff, great beer & food, good music & atmosphere & Brian the landlord is well into Blues music so that makes him a good egg !

Went in here a few times while down in Ilfracombe on a shooting holiday.
Lively pub with friendly locals. Worth a visit.
PS - know what you mean about the low ceilings!!!

Very interesting pub - a wishing well just outside the door to the Gents!
Nor so genteel as some Ilfracombe pubs - brash and fun and good beer. Vinny is right about the low ceilings. Your headache might not all be due to an excess of alcohol....
