The Castle was our final stop in Herefordshire. It's a gem of a pub well off the beaten track. We'd saved it until last, due to its limited opening hours. The bar has a farmhouse feel, with a high ceiling. There is a separate dining area. The solitary real ale was Hopfather from Wye Valley. But they also had Ty Gwyn Perry on handpull. We had dinner in the bar area and this was not a disappointment either. Recommended.

Used to drink here when we lived in Kingsthorne, such a lovely retreat, far away from any main road... beer usually well kept and used to be a decent price too.
Nice to know it's still open.

Friendly local with well kept real ales. Usually Otter Bitter and 3 others. Haven't tried the food myself but friends have recommended it.

The Castle changed hands this year but maintains its friendly atmosphere. With a completely different style of bar to what you expect in a remote rural location, this is definitely not your usual village pub. It used to often feel chilly in there but it's a lot warmer now that the new wood-burner is working! The Otter bitter is always good and there are usually a couple of other real ales on in addition to ciders etc.
The food menu has been expanded and every dish I have sampled has been wonderful (I've tried most of 'em). Some friends of mine were disappointed once though I guess there can always be an off night!

Good beer but disappointing food. I had "Crassie Pie" which sounded good but was impregnable - think they should sell their pastry to the army; slightly charred and very very hard it was all too much for just a knife and fork. My wife had the lamb, this was tasteless and slightly tough. Presentation of the food left a lot to be desired - all served together a la school dinners - the once crisp chips dissolved by the gravy. Puds didnt redeen the meal either. Beer was good though - the Moorlands I had was superb, service friendly and efficient, shame about the food

A good selection of real ales makes this pub worth a visit, the foods not bad either. The monthly folk music sessions are well worth attending but get there early if you want a seat.

Revamped and revitalised village pub with a regularly changed selection of beers and a fine informal restaurant.
