Now Broadway Bar & Grill. Went in Tuesday, only one real ale on, seemed to have photocopied pump clip! so went for a Guinness which was OK. However, then went to gents toilets and found floor flooded<(clearly for some time), smell of sewerage. Left ASAP. A dreadful place.
|
Now the Broadway Arms. It's okay. Good for watching sports on TV, pricy but not excessive for Fulham, decent beer selection but nothing for enthusiasts.
|
Now closed and renamed The Kings Head.
|
Used to drink here before the game at Chelsea but defected to 'Spoons' just up the road. Pricey and grubby
|
I normally give this place a miss - there are plenty of better pubs nearby. Poor beer selection, slow service, very noisy.
|
Truly awful - if drunk bellowing antipodeans are your cup of tea in the evenings then this is the place for you. I would advise wearing your wellies though to paddle your way around the revolting conveniences.
The equivalent of Tiger Tiger for our backpacking friends
|
Great if you're Australian, Kiwi, SA. Good screens, cheap prices and great "fun" - especially if you like being knocked over by some drunk idiot who is drinking snakebite out of a jug. The mecca for binge drinking and Southern Hemisphere partying. If you're into it, it's great, if you're not, its hell!
|
Grteat ! gregc ! But....not London's best !!??
|
Grteat sports bar for AFL
|
.......and,gregc.......you've checked out all London's sports bars ?!
|
Londons best Sports bar for AFL !!!
|
The SlUG now shows ALL AFL games on a Saturday and Sunday !!!
|
The SLUG is packed Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights for a reason. Famous amoungst the Antipodean community! If you are afraid of Big antipodean men (Chav_man) and you cant pull a woman in a pub that has a reputation for love, I suggest you try your luck in the Costa Del Sol. When our teams are winning its pride which makes us feel like sporty people, but I dont expect a common POM to understand that. I would recomend the Slug to anyone who leaves their pretentious coat at the door. Good times for all.
|
The Slug @ Fulham , what a place man . this is a haven for Saffas, Aussies, Kiwis and Sport. Possibly the best sports bars in London, Atmosphere, Food, Drinks and Hot Girls you name it they got.
i am there every weekend watching the Super 14 and am always impressed by the Manager and his team of staff. A Bar like this is only run the way it is due to the manager and his team.
I fully recommend going to the slug@Fulham for an awesome experience.
|
Great bar with the most screens i have ever seen for sport !!!!!!!!!!!!!

since decoration - where's the lettuce gone?
|
At last a pub with decent music! Great for getting lashed and groping Aussies.
|
Great laugh, but agree meat market for the ozzies in the area.
The other Fulhamites walk on past to either Chelsea or South Ken or one of their usual sloaney hangouts in Fulham.
anonymous - 13 Sep 2006 18:36 |
Shouldn't this ropey cattle market be renamed the Slut and Mattress?
|
Shocking place. Good if you want to have some fun with ladies. Make sure you have the beer goggles on as some of the birds are rough.
|
A decent enough boozer if you fancy a few drinks before heading to Stamford Bridge, close to Fulham Broadway tube station. I have met some of my Chelsea supporting mates here before going to watch Charlton at the Bridge and is probably one of the better boozers for away supporters. I wouldn't advise wearing away club colours though. You won't catch me in this part of the World on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night, so have no comment on what goes on those nights!
|
CheekySheperd, you are spot on Pal. This is a great place for southern hem travellers to meet, chew the fat, slowly unwind, and discuss all the marvellous cultural experiences they have had since arriving in Europe. The piss up in Shep Bush, the memory loss evening in Earls Court, the BBQ in Willesden, the shag on Kilburn High Road etc etc.
|
Nothing really positive to say about this place - think you can always judge a place by its toilets....no other comment suffices than, QUAGMIRE!! Make sure if you do waste your time and money here though, that you wear your wellies(!)
When I went (not through personal choice, I hasten to add)the place was heaving. Full of drunk ozzies. Nobody seemed to bat an eyelid either that water (well, hopefully water!) was pouring in through the ceiling downstairs...in fact one group of lads took turns to stand under the deluge!! I urge people of a similar taste in fun as those lads, to congregate in the Slug at Fulham and not to grace other establishments with your presence, in the hope that standards can be maintained elsewhere. As the staff and indeed management at the Slug, evidently dont care who drinks in their pub or what condition it is in. I say dont you bother either....just go somewhere else.
anonymous - 29 Jun 2006 14:36 |
busy, busy, busy for the World Cup (COME ON AUSTRALIA!!), with lots of us ozzies around enjoying those cracking snakebites; BUT heard from a funky bar down the road that the "big" cheese manager is now blind!
anonymous - 26 Jun 2006 19:24 |
Some nice staff, and not too bad in the daytime, but basically, disgusting. "All the animals come out at night"; indeedy.
|
I've got into a rather annoying habit of calling this franchise of pubs the "spit or swallow pubs", mostly cos of the high-maintenance who think they're low-maintenance, but wholly promiscuous totty that dwell within, bound to be ushered home by a Kiwi, Aussie or Saffa at the end of the night, or the charming-date-rapists-in-disguises who prey on their innocent victims in a place that solicits binge-drinking.
Of course, these reasons are totally unfounded, but you only have to read local papers to see what kinds of pubs advertise for the sweeping generation of drinkers to get up to know good when they're on their comedown.
I'm not highly-strung, pompous, overtly serious or insensitive. I drink to socialise and meet new people, but the kind of people I'd like to have as conversation partners aren't the loud, brash, and incongruous morons who drink in pubs like these.
As for the women, all that I think when I see them boozing in pubs like this is: one rohypnol and they're all yours.
A rather callous comment, I know, but when you ladies are crying down the police station or hospital several hours of drinking in places like these you're the victim of your own frivolous debauchery.
|
Don't go near this place. If you're around during the day and want a pint there are far better places to give your custom and enjoy your drink, and during the weekends you'll hate it unless you enjoy the kind of scenario described below. A good example of what's wrong with Slug and Lettuce/chain pubs.
|
YUK! This place gives Aussies. kiwis and saffas a bad name, steer clear you'll be glad you did!
anonymous - 10 May 2006 14:13 |
My review refers to this pub on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night.
This is a pub you should only go to if you're in a very jovial frame of mind with the intention of getting drunk very quickly so that you can be on the same wave-length as everyone else.
Definately avoid if you're sober, high-strung, serious, impatient, sensitive, or looking for a quiet evening.
You should also be comfortable with tight cramped spaces, music so loud you have to shout to be heard, slow service, and a willingness to be hit on by guys and girls all night. And when I say cramped...I mean it...you will be shoulder to shoulder with other patrons.
The type of people at the Slug are usually always good natured...but very drunk, so if you're like that then you'll have an enjoyable night.
The music is cheesy 80's, 90's and naughties classics...all the sing-along ballads (think Alice Coopers 'Poison', or Toto's 'Miss the Rains in Africa') where you hold your pint up in the air, close your eyes, and sing along...
It's a favourite place for young Australians, New Zealanders and South Africans who have just arrived in London on working holiday visas and are just looking to get laid and/or pissed.
I've had one or two very good nights here when I first got to London, but I went back after having not gone for 2 years and found that it didn't have any appeal for me any longer.
Just depends what you're looking for, you'll either love this place, or you'll absolutely hate it.
Hope my review is helpfull and gives you some idea of what to expect ;-)
Cheers

Lots of lovely ladies... all rather in your face
anonymous - 30 Jan 2006 23:35 |
Avoid at all costs, this place is bad even as Slug and Lettuce pubs go.
|
I have only used this during the day, and I can confidently say that it must be the worst pub in Fulham. When four bar staff cannae cope with two customers in the afternoon, may the Lord help them when it's busy.
|
Nicknamed the "Slut and Legless" - Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are /extreemly/ busy, packed with aussies and saouth africans and loud music goes on all night. It's a fun place if you're out for a night of dancing (when you're not being squeezed either side by people) and generally larking about singing along to 80's and 90's ballads. Be warned though, you will not get a seat (on these nights) and you will not be able to have a conversation. Bascially a fun, busy meat market that you'll either love or hate.
|
If you don't like a crowd, or if you're not too keen to be with friendly with the antipodeans, don't bother coming, but otherwise you'll have a great night. Leave the good clothes at home, use plenty of deodorant, and make sure you have some tissues in your handbags ladies for impromptu 'toilet paper'. Oh, and have fun!
|
If you're looking for a good night out with loud music and lots of people, this is the place! Great sounds from the 80's, 90's and noughties attracts people from around the globe to this packed-out pub. Is it legal to squeeze that many people in? Who cares! If you don't mind the sweat and smelly toilets!

Ive lived in London for 1 year and I just loved this place!I met really nice people over there:) Back to Brazil ... I cant forget it at all , hope to go back to London one day and enjoy thurs nites at ``The Slug and Lettuce``again!!

Firstly, it should be noted that The Barons ran this gaff from '93 to '98 with the occasional help from assorted & inferior forces such as the RWL, Ed and the og Lads and, of course, the so-called Men of Pyke. This period is also known as the Glory Years by some expert historians. In a previous life this was a Chelsea ruck pub but the arrival of Boss Man Mick quickly turned things around as he developed possibly the Worlds leading example of a fun pub. The first ever visit procured a couple of Kiwi strikes, and after that the entire global clientele were all considered fair game. Aussies, Kiwis, Saffas and improbably entitled Scandinavians were the usual fare with the occasional Brazilian, Septic or Eskimo (I kid you not) joker. Arriving inebriated on a blend of cheap Martinis and grinding out a few tours of duty inevitably procured points of an evening. Special mention should go to the cast of supporting characters - Jamie (aka Clap) the Barman, Chelsea, Minna's mate and of course Roses. Andi and Tim distinguished themselves in both receiving bans during this period and nights for them were spend quietly await our arrival, avec birds, in the Music Club. Celebrities attempted to jump on the band wagon but were always send packing, including the entire Oz cricket team who were trounced in a manner Mick Atherton could only dream of at the time. Ross Kemp meanwhile is possibly the only man alive, bar Steve Moody, who has failed to get a result in this establishment.
For any further information please contact yer Global Barons. For details of Brompton's Lounge Bar please contact the CPL.
Cheers!

Used to work in the area - had nightmares walking past on a thu/fri/sat night in case one of the tightly squeezed in saffas fell on to me from the top windows.
Have wondered many times if it is legal to allow so many people into a such a small place!
If you can handle the sweat and very good chance of being covered in beer then a good night!
anonymous - 4 Apr 2005 22:33 |
Great place, lots of fun! Time to blow your whistle...b****!! :-)
|
pub full of assholes avoid at all costs.
|
It was a great meatmarket a few years ago. Probably still is...
|
If you wanted a guided tour of all that was or could go wrong with a pub, come along - wear body armour though as it's full of either our drunken friends from the antipodes or thuggish and drunken Chelsea fans. The creative syntax of the gentleman contributor below Mr 'Grantous' just about sums up the clientele of this establishment - so you can probably surmise from this whether or not you'll find yourself at home there.
|
rite larf realli good piss up so many birds best is after footy on saaturdays best thing isto go so bar (aka rosies or black rose) then go footy then go bak there 4 a sing song then gho white heart then bootsies then at about 9 10 goto so bar right good old larf best footy pub crawl u eva can go 4
|
This pub is as bad as you'd expect a chain pub to be. I'm not remotely xenophobic but I don't think any British people actually go in here. Don't bother.
|
Awful chain pub made even worse by the large number of drunken antipodians who are abroad for the first time. One to avoid unless you are an antipodian in which case you'll probably love it.
anonymous - 6 Dec 2004 15:23 |
Not bad i suppose
anonymous - 4 Dec 2004 16:41 |
This is the best pub i've ever been to...love it!!!

The "Slut and Legless" as we have renamed it over the years is a truly fantastic experience... no Sunday is the same without a Slugging expedition... Snakey B's, the occasional Apple Sours for a pound, the dancing on tables and bars, the crazy ppl who are all just on the biggest mission to have the best night of their lives... Would recommend this place (and frequently do) to any outgoing person who is up for a laugh... Enjoy!
Fiona the Starfish - 4 Apr 2004 11:56 |
I don't like the modern style of these pubs, but the food was good and plentiful, kids were welcome for a meal and the waiter was friendly. No real ale, but the Guinness was okay. Convenient for Stamford Bridge (Chelsea FC).
|
I love this place! Me and my girlfriends from sweden used to go there every thursday last spring. We met so many nice people and had soooo much fun! Unforgetable! Some of the friends that Ive made at "the Slug" I still keep in touch with eventhought they live so far away. i love it and i would never go to london without visiting the slug!
|
iF IT IS SO BAD ANDREW THEN WHY GO tHE REASON IS BECAUSE IT IS FULL OF NICE GIRLS AND IS POPULAR, SO WHY SHOULD THEY CHANGE THE MUSIC FOR YOU GET A LIFE AND ENJOY WHAT THEY OFFER
JEAN - 22 Feb 2004 11:56 |
the music has been the same for the last 3 yrs, the bar staff are over worked + i would say under paid, the toilets are more like a swimming pool but you never can leave as your feet are stuck to the disgusting dirty floor, why do people go to this hole?
andrew wilson - 19 Feb 2004 12:08 |
Top class bar. Gorgeous barmaids, quick service and everyone is friendly - what do you expect with all those aussies about though! Drinking snakebite brings back (hazy!) student memories and bar staff dancing on the bar in their bras - ha, the perfect pub!
sMart - 26 Jan 2004 11:37 |
This place has a wicked a.manager he is friendly out going and looks after all his customers go on jimy
paul mc bride - 22 Jan 2004 13:04 |
fan-bloody-tastic! like st. patrick's day when everyone wants to be irish, coming in here, everyone wants to be a happy, bleary eyed, dancing aussie. the music's crap, the toilets suck, the bar staff get naked, you can't help but dance and grin like an idiot whilst you slop snakebite all over the place. A highly fun and chilled night out, even if you're a poncey pom like me!
|
i agree, it's a bit crazy and the toilets are disgusting - but you can't leave london and not have insanely cool memories of a thursday night slug. they rock on and the party will live forever.
Kerry W - 7 Jan 2004 23:04 |
Not a big fan of the aussie culture and want to hate this place so much. But I can't. Singalong music, friendly crowd even though most are slaughtered, can't move anywhere without spilling your drink toilets filthy but who cares. The place is blinding so just join in.
Jez - 5 Jan 2004 11:55 |
this bloody pub is bloody abysmal.grease bloody lightning everytime, going though the motions.like an 18-30 holiday that you dont want to be on.
David - 3 Dec 2003 16:32 |
world cup final? what a mess the toilets were flooding everywhere drunk people who dont even know what hygiene is! management sort it out. will never go there again!
john - 24 Nov 2003 19:17 |
Crazy pub, you could possibly have a great night if you are from OZ, NZ or SA. However,a little intimidating for an English Rose like myself!
|
Atomosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere! The Slug is busting at the seems with it. Everyone is up for one hell of a time and the place literally jumps every Thursday to Sunday. Get aboard and hold on for one hell of a ride 'cause this ships a rocking!
|
Even at six on a Thursday it's full of Aussies, Kiwis and S. Africans, and loud music. Someone outside selling Boerewors sandwiches which were ok. It must get rammed later on.
Chris - 30 Aug 2003 08:41 |
last night i went "the slug..." which was usual night!i go there at least once a time every week! last night "the bulldogs" of the slug and lettuce didint like our "dusky" appearance and WE WERENT ALLOWED TO GET IN, WHAT WAS THE POINT? "THE BULLDOGS`" ANSWER WAS SO SIMPLE "THIS IS A REGULAR NIGHT,REGULAR COSTUMERS" WHAT WAS THE MEANING OF THAT? I AM WAITING A LOGICAL ANSWER FROM THE OWNER`S OF THOSE "BULLDOGS"....JUST WHAT WAS THE F...ING POINT
EMRE - 22 Aug 2003 12:19 |
Wot needs to be said about "The Slug".....wear a wetsuit. The music is a bit tedious, same old every time. Always a pissy occasion.
Gino - 14 May 2003 16:23 |
In dire need need of a new play list - every time I have been at the bar they have played the same songs in almost the exact same order!
Anon - 22 Apr 2003 15:03 |
This place is the best party bar i have been to in London!!!!! WILD NIGHT
brent shaw - 8 Apr 2003 18:39 |
Was once a gr8 place to party hard with a big antipodean influence. Went last Saturday and was disappointed. The door staff are abnoxious and the bar stuff are more interested in chatting to each other instead of the customers.
Colin - 25 Feb 2003 17:25 |
this place rocks like nothin g i have seen in london. check it out
greg crammond - 18 Feb 2003 21:18 |
Amazing, definately a note in my book! Need somemore south african bar staff though, that's what makes the place.Get rid of the U>S>A asols!!!!!!!especially the two sluts.
brendan - 6 Feb 2003 23:49 |
definately a place to go and have fun at...guarenteed a jol! Great to see the staff having a good time behind the bar too...(and on it!)
George Eadie - 20 Jan 2003 20:54 |
were told to come to this pub bcoz of the great bar staff...def agree, they make the pub the success it is...keep up the good work GIRLS!
Travis Mckenzie - 8 Jan 2003 21:59 |
Same as all the other Slug and Lettuce shit-bins. Overpriced, standardised Travelodge-esque dump. Get some posh totty though (makes a chnage from the hounds in Weybridge and surrounding shires).
anonymous - 31 Dec 2002 10:13 |
Best pub in London!!! Tons of great nights have been spent here...get ready for a fun loving crowd-and when I say crowd...I do mean CROWD!
